I ordered the steak dinner for lunch today. the website says they can choose between reis and cousin, but the online order didn't let me choose. After I gave up my order, I tried to call the cousin instead of tear. I called about 10 times before someone finally answered. I understand they're busy, but a business has to answer her phone. She said that was in order, but when I was there, she said that they were out of cousins so I could go. was a quick dinner before my layer, but it must have been some delays, waited like 20 minutes and was admitted to a little upset bc now I had no time to actually eat my food before I had to go, but without even telling me everything they were very apologetic and gave me the half of my order. I could eat a part of my meal before my layer and it was very fresh and tasty. great customer service! I understand that sometimes things happen, but not every restaurant would be so generous about it so that I was very satisfied.
I was looking for a different restaurant when an amazing smell full of spices distracted me. I’m so glad it did, because this place is amazing! Marinated chicken over rice with yogurt sauce and allll the vegetables, sweet potato fries, and sweet spiced Somali tea and I am the happiest punctuation mark in the world. Both the fries and the chicken and rice were enough for leftovers and the tea (full of anise and cardamom warmed me right up on this gray and rainy evening. Highly recommend if you’re in downtown St. Paul.
We ordered two large dishes for delivery, but were disappointed to find that they were actually normal-sized and filled mostly with rice, with a very small portion of curry. Both dishes had minimal meat and lacked flavor and spice. My husband's beef dish was especially dry and heavy on rice. We may give them another chance in the future, but there are other restaurants we prefer and will return to before considering coming back here. Based on other reviews, we may try the gyros instead of the rice dishes next time. Book a table now
Afro Deli used to be good, but now it is a disappointing place that serves low quality food. I ordered the Veggie plate and it was terrible. The falafel was small and not like the picture on the website. The rice was gummy and reheated, the yogurt sauce lacked seasoning, and the hummus was bland. The pita bread was stale and had a chemical taste. The veggie sambusa was soggy and unappetizing. It seems like Afro Deli is more focused on saving money by using cheap ingredients rather than providing good quality food.
I give this restaurant four stars for their delicious food, diverse menu, and helpful staff. However, I am deducting one star because they only offer one small size of fountain cup despite having a top-of-the-line fountain. It's a missed opportunity for them to generate more revenue by offering larger drink sizes.
Dirty floors, counters, tables and cooking area. Ordered a gyro and they put 1 tsp of cucumber sauce. I asked for more and they charged. 75. The taste of the food was gross. Definitely won't be back to that place.
The food was amazing full of flavor. Muhammad was gracious. We went prior to their filming. A hidden gem. My family and I will definitely be coming back next week. Book a table now
