I visited Allium to pick up two pizzas to go, and the entire experience was a disaster from beginning to end. Although the restaurant was empty, I had to wait about 30 minutes only to be informed that they had no pizza boxes for takeout. Instead, I was offered the option to carry the pizzas on plates down the street. So, we opted to dine in. Honestly, I think frozen pizzas from Iceland would have been a better choice; they were awful. The crust was as hard as cardboard—probably frozen beforehand—with just some extra cheese thrown on top. This definitely doesn't reflect the quality of a top chef!
The food looked fantastic in the pictures on the website, so my girlfriend and I were really excited to try this restaurant. The interior and gardens were beautiful, which was a plus. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the ambiance. My girlfriend's burger bun was dry, and the halloumi skewers came without any coriander, essentially making it just vegetables and chips. While it only cost £40, the quality of the food was no better than what you'd find at a Wetherspoons. We left feeling very disappointed.

Mark Ellis would never make Masterchef how he made Great British Menu is a wonder if this is what he serves.
The starters were decent, but the main courses were disappointing; the steak appeared to have been microwaved. The staff at the front of the house were very pleasant and handled our complaints well, which is a shame given the quality of the food. I’ll have to return when they reopen.

Good value for money. Our room was up to the standard most people expect in any hotel nowadays, modern, clean and fresh. Evening meal was also value for money and enjoyable. Staff were polite and friendly.
Mark Ellis the owner and Chef served up delicious food of a very high standard. The room was fine but needs a few extra touches. We would go again.
The atmosphere is pleasant, though it tends to be a bit quiet. The food is delicious but on the pricey side.
Food wasn't piping hot but still damn tasty and good value. As always you get really well looked after.
