once again we enjoyed a fantastic meal that strengthens why we come every time we visit family. the chef can never be disappointed. in a nice night you can sit down and eat fresco and in a cooler evening you can sit in and drink in the friendly atmosphere and excellent service. again I had the pork steak with bratkartoffel and salat. the salat dressing is to die and ties the whole dish together. other family members had the black medals and sparing. everything was well cooked and well presented. the environments are picturesque and old-fashioned, adding experience. we have come back for years and will continue to do so, as the meal never disappoints. the menu is in German, but the waiters sp...

we found this place based on a blog recommendation, and I am so glad that we! it is located in a neighbourhood north of heidelberg (about minutes by tram and a short walk). it was definitiw a place tourist would not stumble. we sat outside in the garden, which had a soon-to-earth rob. with sat with some natives who were very friendly. our server, niels, spoke English and was just wonderful! very accommodating and patient. I order the frame-scattered. it was a calf dish in a cream mushroom sauce, served with spatzle (egg noodles), carrots and salat. delicious and the price was good.

As long as this is not a centric place, is not easy to get here, but it worths. You won't see very much tourist here, is a place for locals. Is has a incredible quiet terrace, and a very tipical inside rooms. Teh service is...not the fastest but no problem with that. The menu can be quite confusing as long is only in german and even if you ask in english for a translation is hard to get a full description of all the ingredients but just ask for whatever the waiter recomends. We tasted some snitzels and roasted pork, big plates with vegetables, fries and nice meat.

Sunday to dinner, eat very tasty, the couple extra minutes waiting time or the extra money worth, expect people with drinks and drink in dollar. very friendly staff, just happened that they were server down and the two server were pretty. overstretched, but nevertheless friendly. why not star, would have had some seasonal mushrooms, but they only came as a full dish not possible as an appetizer or side. overall good choice for a typical German food catering, plus they have a beer garden conclusion can not go wrong with this! I've been going to this place on and off for probably twenty years. I hadn't been back for a while and I was looking for somewhere to go with some colleagues. I thought about this place but having read some of the reviews about poor...service I was hesitant. However I took the plunge and we went, about ten of us. It was as I remembered good food, nice cosy atmosphere, and the service was fine. Prices are very reasonable. So I would still recommend it without hesitation.

This is an old restaurant with a great deal of history. The have nice seating in a beer garden in the back that has retractable roof in case it rains. The setting was nice but both my wife's pepper pork steak and my rahm schnitzel...were very tough. It also took three tries to get our check even though we were with a couple that spoke German.

We quite literally stumbled into this restaurant after visiting the Heilingenberg (Holy Mountain). Unassuming exterior (we weren't sure if they were even open) but lively interior. Great food excellent service very reasonable prices. Seemed to be a local favourite (which I usually treat...as a good sign).

We went for dinner after reading the trotter guide and all the good reviews on TripAdvisor. But the service was not nice at all, they looked like they didn't like there job. The food was very average. The salad was an uninspired pile of Lola...Rosa and some cheap feta. It felt more like a tourist trap. Book a table now

One of my favorite non touristic places in Heidelberg in a suburb called Handschußheim. You can get there by taxi or tram and about five minutes walk. Great food for reasonable price and fantastic local wine or beer. Have fun in this traditional place where...time seems to stand still
