Three days last day a flop. We arrived on 29.09. and were thrilled by the restaurant, so we pre-ordered the same table for the next four days. On the four days we had another service. The first three times everything was to our full satisfaction The services were very friendly and fixed, the dishes excellent. All right. The last day we were lucky with the operation. It took 20 minutes to order our drinks, we used the opportunity and ordered the dishes directly. The dishes came very fast and were fantastic only if we wanted to order a dessert, we were not served again. Then we dispensed with Dessert and paid for it. Shame!
The building itself is really beautiful, location so great. Decoration is fantastic, so many details. Lot of historical signs and items on the walls and around the room. Service friendly, though rather formal. Menu looks really nice, several interesting alternatives. Bottled wines overpriced, better check...other alternatives. After all that food was bit disappointing. On the plate were some really odd combinations. So soft and light plaice got very salty and strong bacon next to it. Had to eat fish first and only then some bacon. Similar problems also with my wifes food, and our salads. Rather expensive, too.
The ”old Swede” is located (like so many others in the market place. This is said to be the oldest building in the square, if not in all Wismar, and it is well worth going inside to see it even if you plan to sit...outside. Since there were no tables available outside, we decided to sit inside despite it being a very warm evening and it turned out to be a bit too hot to be comfortable. Very charming interior though. We had fish (salmon, perch-pike and cod) which was served with fried potatoes (you can choose what type you want as well and spinach. Very tasty. Good wine, although rather pricey. Good service.
Here you should book in the best case or come by before the usual time for dinner (before 6 pm) as it is always well visited. We were lucky with this strategy and got a table outside for two people. The service is very friendly and accommodating, you just feel good. The food was high quality and very tasty the steak and the fish were cooked to the point and the vegetables were still nice bite. Definitely recommended!

The first time in Wismar and landing directly in a wonderful place like this. Food was super fast at the table and especially delicious! Very attentive service staff, super dressed and at the hygiene in the toilet rooms and in general I have nothing to complain about. Ambience super and the working climate between staff seems to be wonderful, so absolutely 5 stars worth it! If not. Thanks for this time!
A really original jewel where you can eat really well. The menu is not too big and that's good. So you know the dishes are fresh. The portions had a fair size and were really super delicious. The ambience was the iTüpfelchen, the dishes were typical for the country and the staff was very accommodating and trained, which is unfortunately less and less found.
Excellent gastronomy. We had our wedding dinner here on 09.09.1999 and were already enthusiastic at the time. For a few years, we have traditionally visited Old Sweden on 09/09 and celebrate our wedding day in the form of the finest culinary treats every year. Thanks also for the friendly service. We are looking forward to next year. Very recommended!!!
A very good menu I decided logically for fish, which was excellent. The service was very friendly but not intrusive. The prices were reasonable as the fish was really fresh. Also, you didn't have the feeling you should be able to get the next food quickly.

Old interesting building. Interior design recalls an old brewhouse. Very nice and accommodating. Food tastes good. No long waiting times. Good value.
