A last minute decision to head into town, we decided to try Ambrosia for the first time. It 's in a pretty cool little building, that has the feel of the old Houston home that it used to be. The small, dimly lit dining room offers the chance for a great atmosphere, but uncomfortable metal chairs and bouncing acoustics work against what could be a quiet, romantic vibe. Like the atmosphere, food here aims at eclectic, Asian-inspired dishes but execution and flavor miss the mark just enough to disappoint. From the artwork to the menu, there 's much here that could be great, but it 's just not. A simple iceberg salad was dressed with a serrano vinaigrette so spicy that I couldn 't eat it. Edamam...
So bad! I had been several years ago for valentines and it’s definitely not the same cook and possibly not the same owners. The food was inedible rice was not even cooked correctly and the drinks bleh. Even the ambiance was off, BRIGHT dinning room and very hurried and frantic staff. It’s a shame and I really do hope they rethink the concept and menu before they lose the place
Ambrosia Restaurant was a new discovery for us during Houston Restaurant Week. The service at our table was exceptional. However, we were disappointed with the mediocre food quality and the lack of updated wine selections on the online menu. Overall, with so many dining options in Houston, we don't plan on returning to Ambrosia in the future.
Their HRW menu tasted like microwaved food. We’re pretty sure it was store bought donut holes and croissants they reheated in the microwave and store bought frozen Belgium waffles. And the mimosas were flat because they left them sitting out in a big pitcher. Not worth the money. But the service was really good and friendly.

I went for a Monday night extended happy hour and I couldn't have been happier. The place was fairly empty which was nice because it was quiet and easy to have a conversation. The service was awesome, super friendly. Timely with the food and behind the bar.
The food was just as I expected and I really enjoyed the dark castle ambiance. However, the tables were quite close together, resulting in a loud atmosphere. Therefore, I would not recommend this place if you are seeking a quiet dining experience.
Menu was very creative. Crab fried rice is our favorite. Ribeye steak was over cooked. Cocktail was excellent. The place is cozy and spacious
The restaurant is a bit chilly, so they could lower the air conditioning. However, they have good cocktails.
