Friday night saw many restaurants closed in Saint Emilion, and we were rather forced to settle for Amelia Canta. We were told that the outside was fully booked ( and it was as later it filled with a large group dining the eve before an English wedding) so we were happy to sit inside. Eventually our orders were taken and within three minutes our meals were plonked in front of us. Rather than order the "bargain" 18€ three course meal we ordered the 15€ poulet expecting to get a reasonably sized portion, but we were given particularly small portions, especially in comparison with the main courses served around us. We stopped here for a quick snack and I wish that we hadn't! The place has a good location but we were sat for a while before we were served after trying to make eye contact with several staff members. The girl who served us was polite enough but could tell she could not really be bothered. After we had eaten I nipped to the toilet and decided to pay on my way back. I was directed by a member of staff to the till. When I got there I expressed I wished to pay my bill to which the member of staff looked at me in disgust and asked how was she supposed to know what I had ordered. To make it positive first, plenty of space, many tables, you can sit outside or inside, many waiters, good menu, reasonable prices. But to be in the St.emilion it's a disappointing little wine list. Since there are hundreds of guests here at the same time for lunch, it took nearly 3 hours, our waiter came to us every 30 minutes and 3 hours lunch is not ok, we threw away half the day for the food was just below medium, duck confit was not cooked long enough and tasted good but was so tenacious that one had to cut loose pieces. We will choose a smaller restaurant next time with a better kitchen. But if you just want to drink a glass it can be recommended
We went for breakfast at 11:00 and saw a vegetarian menu, unfortunately it was not available until 12:00. We took omelettes for 8 and 9 euros, served with a small portion of salad. It was ok. The coffee was not good but the iced tea with sorbet was better. St Emilon is expensive everywhere. Service was excellent and the view from the terrasse is very cute.

High volume low quality food in a lovely outdoor setting. We had the special of the day, calamari, and it was especially bland. Flavourless pasta, tender flavourless calamari accompanied by a few leaves of lettuce. Rushed, efficient service. I'd recommend trying somewhere else. Worst meal I've had in France for a very long time.
This restaurant had a set price vegetarian menu for €18.50. It was pretty basic. The better of the options was the salad starter, vegetable pie main course, and the sorbet dessert. We had a Bordeaux White too for €18. The service was good and the toilets were clean. Indoors was cooler that outside on the square.
Waited 2 hours in between servings of courses. Water, bread, wine only brought after repeated requests and too late. The vegetarian main course was inedible and was taken away after complaint but was not replaced. No manager available. Clearly very poorly trained staff. Eat here for a very stressful experience.
We selected this restaurant in the square by the Church because it was busy.We ordered the prix fixe menu since it looked pretty basic and thought the food would be good... but it was not. Our mistake. Food was probably prepared and reheated.Service was average. Would not recommend.

Very good, helpful, friendly and bustling place. It has everything you need for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or just for a drink and people watching. Staff is very friendly too. Prices are very fair .
