there are literally 100 places to get good Italian meals in the area nutley, but this place has to. the portions are huge and we never had a bad meal. we had many different entrees, but the filled pork chops and rigatoni with calf meatballs are our favorite dishes. to dessert do not miss the white chocolate pecan bee, which is served warm with vanilleeis. décor is simple, with many black and white photos by nutley from the 30s. the service personnel is tip notch; the bartenders make a nice drink; and the chef often comes to speak with the diners. try it!
I had my first experience at American Bistro, and it was the best culinary experience I've had in years. I dined with a party of four, and every meal was outstanding. I especially appreciated that many of the fish dishes are offered with a choice of various sauces or preparations. The portions were generous, and the service was courteous and attentive. From the bread to dessert, everything was excellent.
The stuffed pork chop was very good! I've never had anything like it and I highly recommend. The brownie sundae was also good for dessert. We were there for Easter and they had a good crowd of people. We didnt have to wait for a table but it was still full which I thought was surprising.
Just two more things there. The chicken pecan was so good I had the next two times I left. 2 people and I'm a big guy had enough to take home for lunch and they packed some anti pasta for the doggie bag. Can't wait to try some other menu items.

I visited on February 14, 2020, for Valentine's Day and it was bustling with activity. We started with the seafood salad as an appetizer, and it was outstanding for both couples. I added just a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
One of my favorite restaurants around. Not only can you get half dinners , to save room for dessert , but the chef is amazing. The bar is so comfy. I love this place. Highly recommend the pecan chicken. A+
The restaurant was fantastic! It has undergone a complete renovation and is set to reopen as a steakhouse, or so the rumors say. I'm hoping it will be a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) establishment!
After 20 years, it remains unchanged. There's no need to alter anything. You can't go wrong with the stuffed pork chop or the rock shrimp arrabiata. Be sure to try the layered potatoes!
