Recommended by hotel/restaurant in the area where staying 4 nights and although hotel/restaurant excellent wished to experience a good local restaurant. We were not disappointed. The three course dinner at 32 euros was excellent value and quality. Starter of eggs florentine delicious as was the main of Guinea fowl. Typical rustic French restaurant and staff very pleasant. A Thursday evening and in October and the small restaurant was full That perhaps says more than any review...speaks for itself. We were the only English couple, everyone else was French, including an intergenerational family. Nice ambience and well worth a visit.

We had a reservation here for dinner at 8pm we were seated promptly but weren't even asked if we wanted to order a drink for the next 30mins. We finally got to order our food but it was 9:30pm before our starters were served. Food itself was ok but the menu is limited but nothing like the best we ate during 8 nights in the Loire valley and it was the most expensive. It was 11pm by the time we completed 3 courses and there was no word of explanation or apology for the delay. Try elsewhere Amboise has some nice places or Les Closeaux in Vallieres les Grande.

At the beginning of our stay in Chisseaux we had lunch at the Auberge with our son. it was such a pleasant experience that we went back with the whole family. Some of the dishes we ate: asparagus/ham, lamb, aigrefin, baba. We drank kir royals and a local rose. Good waiter but food was slow coming which was fine as we were enjoying the outdoor atmosphere.

The Michelin recommendation speaks for itself. The food is fine dining and there's a pretty broad menu, we enjoyed 3 lovely courses. As you traditionally expect in the French countryside, the service was without a smile, but that's part of the charm!
