Small French auberge in tiny hilltop village of Brancion, Borgogne region. Run by charming older couple who have apparently run it for past 35 years since taking over from her father. She does understand English fairly well. The dining area is both small and very understated decor wise, a bit like the food on offer, however in saying that , our tour group who stopped here ( all 12 of us) for lunch were served a home made quiche lorraine with salad which was quite good. Limited menu choices , did have wine/ beer on offer. Did notice some other diners gorging on some OK looking crepes. If hungry and need a bite whilst visiting this charming little village/ chateaux then apart from sandwandcher...

the place has something. the chateau, from the entrance of the tores to the auberge and the small market hall over the small church with views of the bourgogne; simply beautiful. the rooms of the auberge are large (at least the rooms we had) and fit into the ambiente of the house and the old village. we were there several times. the owners of the auberge were always very nice, friendly and helpful. we are coming back in a definitiw.

I love everything about this little café. The lady is friendly, crepes are good and served at any time. There is a selection of seats either inside or in the picturesque conservatory. Outside or in the garden opposite. If you ask for tea, you will get a good pot of ear gray with cold milk if you specify. Lady speaks English. Book a table now

We decided to stop at the hostel to take a drink during our visit to this beautiful village. To check that coffee on the point of being served, the waiter put his little finger in it. The surrogate, super unpleasant. Service, non-existent. I'm more of a kind to make positive comments but here, frankly... A real disaster!

Situated in the restored medieval village of Brancion, just up from the modern town. Excellent menu, basic wines, family place, good informal service.

We were out of season, it was good to sit with a light beer, and the owner is friendly.
