The Chateau was full and it was hot. Those can be the only excuses for at times inexcusably slow and inattentive service. If the food had been top drawer it might have been ok. It wasn't. We arrived a little later than booked but most people were well into their meals so there should have been no significant additional stress on the waiting staff or kitchen. Great setting and great food. There were 5 of us with two children. The menu we chose was €49 but well worth the money for the food, service, location and ambience.I had the prawn salad to start followed by the fillet de boeuf and then the cheese platter. There were two negatives which were that they served Parmesan shavings as one of the cheeses which I thought was a little off and lastly there were only two children choices of fish and chicken. The local pharmasist where we bought tooth paste faced with the question who serves 'copieux' portions, and that is what we were after: quality with quantity, not pizzicato sampling or gastro attitude - the 'vieux chateau' caters for that. The chied red cheeked waiter was most obliging but neither the Sancerre nor another one that we had were of character or distinction. The portions were small and the food was bland and well presented. The very small olives were good and here comes the question: we wanted fine unassuming food with generous serving- the automated brasserie and the derivatives do not cater for that it seems. First let me say that the setting here during the evening is exquisite! Sitting out on the terrace you are looking out across the mountain where the views are panoramic. We had the menu decouverte, which included 5 courses: foie gras, sea bream, beef, cheese, dessert. These were beautifully presented and the taste was magnificent. An excellent menu! The cheese was served with a violet jam that we had not encountered before and the combination was just WOW! We were fit to burst after all of this. We had a nice dinner in this beautiful small hill town in France. The food was very good and the staff was excellent. I had the foie gras as a starter and it was very good but i suggest they add some small toasted bread on the side, the main plate was a lovely pan-fried lamb fillet followed by an excellent dessert. My family loved their food as well. The rose wine was excellent and the night was a very pleasant one indeed. Worth a visit.
The food here is so good, WAU!! The staff speak english very nicely and are friendly. The restaurant is located in a little town called Cabris so it may be hard to get there but if you are renting a car for example there are parking spots very near and it is relatively easy to find place given the lax parking control.
Nine of us visited this restaurant whilst on a weekend hen visit. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and the food was great. Very reasonably priced for a Michelin restaurant and the location and views are amazing. Would recommend the cheeseboard which comes with a violet jelly. This place is a must!
Lunchtime menu decoverte was outstanding. Wine list is interesting and fairly priced. We visit each visit and are never disappointed. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Never rushed, important as the food warrants time and attention, as does the view.
