18 of us ate there last Saturday night, (a mixture of French and English) and had a great night. The owners work hard to please but English visitors be aware that this menu is fixed and consists of very light little pittas which just keep coming and form the basis of the starter and main course. There are three kilner jars each holding boudain noir pate, a parsley butter and rillettes and you fill the pittas with any or all of these. The main course is a white bean and duck dish (the lady owner did kindly provide me with a plate minus the duck) with more little pittas, there is a cheese and green salad dish and a delicious fruit dessert. We have been desperate to visit this restaurant since we moved to live in France in January this year. We finally got to visit today for my birthday treat and what a treat it was. From the moment you walk through the door the atmosphere and welcome hit you. It is truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We went for the main menu and I dont think that neither of us stopped smiling as we enjoyed every mouthful of home made food. The service is outstanding and the hosts are natural and genuine. We have friends visiting us soon and we have already made a reservation to take them there to share the experience we have had the honour to enjoy today.
Just back from a wonderful lunch at Aut Fouee. We've been meaning to go for ages, but on a weekend you really do need to book in advance.This medieval restaurant comes with the patron and serveuse in costume, wood oven going full tilt and hot breads in endless supply throughout a 5 course meal, with apero, wine and coffee for under 25 Euro. Over 2 hours it was a really brilliant meal in a fab environment - even the wash hand basin in the loo with the magique door is something to behold. Maybe not a meal for a vegetarian to truly savour, but for us meat eaters....tres gourmand!
Picked this one from TripAdvisor before we holidayed in Parthenay this year. Set on the route of St Jaques de Compostela is a great night of. The food is good and plentiful and just keeps coming. I was stuffed, and I really mean stuffed. I've never eaten so much. The hosts really make the night and our limited French and their limited English just made it more amusing!Wonder if they fancy opening a branch in Newcastle.....Go on give it a go you might like it.......(Thanks for the notes on making medieval wine. It'll be made once my son is back from uni)!

My wife and I love this restaurant!We ourselves are restauranteurs in a neighboring town and whenever we want to go out for a good meal, we go here. They really nailed the midieval theme. Every detail; The food, the drinks, the decor, the music; everything is midieval themed and done well, for once.The owners are incredibly welcoming and the food is fresh, well seasoned and super delicious. I couldn't say a bad thing about this restaurant, even if I wanted to.
A very different type of restaurant with very different food,none of this calorie watching, just good food that tastes great but will expand the waste line, but so worth it.The menu is a set menu with lots to enjoy.The owner is quite an entertainer and is as skilled at making you feel at home as he is with his cooking.
What an unique experience, this place will fill you up good. It looks amazing, a lovely garden. The man is so nice and what an entertainment. The bread is great, too many though haha. But just the duck stew is awful and tasteless, if he would change this recipe I would come back for sure. Everything else is wonderful
What an AMAZING place, Dominique (the host/chef) is incredible, the restaurant itself is beautiful and set in such a lovely place. The food was very good, as was the wine! I would 100% definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone

Unique and delightful! We loved the first three courses but couldn't manage any more. Next time, a slower pace on the entree!
