This restaurant is a hidden gem. I have been a patron of Baan Thai since I relocated to the neighborhood a few years ago. It was recommended to me by some friends, and I am so glad they did. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming to all customers, not just the regulars. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. One of my favorite dishes is the salt and pepper squid paired with slightly spicy prawn crackers - it's simply divine! I will definitely keep coming back and will recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience. It feels like you're dining at home, but with excellent service.
It was late afternoon when we reached North Strathfield hunting for food and stumbled upon Baan Raun. Normally other restaurants will turn dine in clients away by 2.30pm but we noticed they accept customers till slightly over 3pm. They offer vegetarian food with special lunch price under $10. Some of the seats are quite crammed but the waitresses are very friendly. I ordered chili basil rice and unfortunately I can't smell any basil unless I accidentally ate basil. However the pad Kee Mao is nice.

The Sukothai was amazing, with perfectly cooked Thai noodles, minced pork, BBQ pork, and fish balls. The Pad Thai and Tom Yum Gong were also delicious and we couldn't pick a favorite.
We highly recommend trying the Pandan Crepes, though the only downside is that the portion size is too small - we wanted more!
Overall, the food was great, the service was good, and it was a very good value for the money.
The $7 lunch special is fantastic with decent portions and great service. The food tastes delicious, especially the bang bang basil, drunk noodle, pad thai, cashew nut heaven, laksa, and spicy fried rice. It's definitely worth trying.
Best hokkien duck noodles and satay chicken noodles ive had. Lovely smiling owners too, with beautiful decorations and a calm ambiance. Would be great for families.
