We made the trip down south expecting a Portuguese restaurant, and found a Brazilian eatery instead. They have an ample parking area, and seating both indoor and outdoor.Since neither of us read/speak Portuguese, the employee was very nice and showed us the prepared foods they had. They had about five dishes (Brazilian beans with pork sausage, octopus and potatoes, pork stew, shrimp and potatoes, stewed beef) and some fried foods displayed in front. We chose 'shrimp and potatoes ' and 'beef ', and they both came with rice and salad. She recommended the chicken filled fried item and we tried that with some fried cod croquettas. They also have a variety of canned and bottled drinks, including...

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and offers unique, quite tasty food. However, the service is disappointingly slow and lacks attentiveness. Upon our arrival, the waitstaff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to us. When I approached the counter, the waitress handed me two menus and told me to sit wherever I liked. Unfortunately, the sluggish service continued, reflecting a clear lack of customer care. Despite the enjoyable setting and good food, I’m left uncertain about returning. While I would come back for the food, I’m hesitant due to the indifferent service from the staff, who seem unmotivated to provide a better experience that could lead to more tip...
I try to go to the Bacalhau as often as I can. The authentic Portuguese food is delicious and the servings are generous. Mostly I go for lunch and is usually on the pricer side but it worths it and you are left with a feeling that every penny you pay for the food is very well spent. Sharing the space with the restaurant is a deli/market with a selection of Ports that cannot be beat. Ask the delightful staffs for a recommendation of wine to pair up withyour meals and you 'll get the best bottle of imported wine you 've ever had. I buy olive oil from Portugal there too. It 's a place where you see home country regulars, at their usual table enjoying home cooking. No better recommendation than...
I got the feijoada today and it was a bit disappointing, but I 'm going to try to be constructive here. The beans were overcooked and seemed low quality, the rice was ok, the kale was ok, the farofa was( sem graça nothing like what we get in Brazil, it was just farofa without bacon and other seasoning that we normally get in Brazil. I wouldn 't mind paying a little more for high quality food so I hope you can improve because it 's actually sad, Feijoada is our iconic dish, it has to be good specially exposing the dish to another culture. I definitely hate to give bad reviews because I know it can harm the business, but I would love to have a nice Brazilian/ Portuguese restaurant that I can r... Book a table now
Good Brazilian and Portuguese food. I most recently ordered the feijoada, a black bean stew with assorted pork, which was very tasty. I also enjoyed garlicky salad that accompanied it. The previous time I ate here, I had the Bacalhau à Brás, which is shredded salted cod and scrambled eggs. It enjoyed the texture of the dish, and it mixes well with the rice. It’s on the pricier side for lunch, but they make up for it with good portion sizes. The restaurant itself has a pretty relaxed atmosphere, and it’s connected to a market where you can buy a variety of Brazilian and Portuguese food products to take home. My favorites include the Portuguese bread, egg tarts, linguica, and chouriço.
The go to place for authentic Portuguese food and OMG the Pastel de nata is heaven. Grocery store heaven with lots of wine to choose from and goodies you only see in Portugal but they have them in store : .. friendly people always smiling. Plenty of parking and you can enter on the parking lot side for the restaurant or on Alumrock side. You need to order the pastel de nata ahead if you need a few. The make them fresh : . Wanted to give this place good Yelp and finally got time now to say thank you for the great food and wine and goodies. If your food is not to your liking just let them know and they will address it.
The food was excellent; it was my first experience with Portuguese cuisine. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. It was clear we weren't made to feel welcome because we weren't Portuguese or white. The waitress didn't greet us or check on us throughout the meal, while everyone else received attentive service with smiles. I wanted to order another beer, but after being ignored for the entire visit, I ultimately gave up. This was very disappointing. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
Delicious Portuguese food. Bachalao (dry salt cod) is their speciality. Prepared a couple of different ways. If you've never had it must try. Very much a favorite among the Portuguese and I love it too! Book a table now
I’ve been to this place 4 times already. The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. It feels like a part of Brazil inside of San Jose. I super recommend Bacalhau Grill!

"I came here for lunch today as I was working at the convention center for an event. I had the Peggy sue burger. The most basic burger with Swiss cheese. It was pretty damn good! It's basically a dive bar but in a burger joint version. I would definitely come back. Great customer service. They told me where all the condiments were. I went to the bathroom.... Not that clean but not that dirty. Expected from the type of place this is."
