Badshah is one of those places that make me wonder why some places have the doors open, when people aren't wanted inside. The lady at the counter, the person serving you, and the people working inside are all unfriendly and hostile. The guy who served me the food, responded to my thanking him, by a strained nod, as if to indicate to me that I should just get back to my seat and start eating. While the restaurant has a bit of authenticity in appearance, with the counter packed with Indian street food and the air smelling of spices to give a dhaba or street restaurant feel, a few minutes in this "authenticity" is just uncomfortable. Two years ago I would have given the same 5 star feedback most of the reviewers give but today I cannot do it anymore.Don't get me wrong, it is still the same shabby-chic restaurant, totally crowded most of the time, noisy and a bit dirty with cheap Thali and I still go there if I want to have a quick snack but the atmosphere changed. It is not nice and welcoming any more. The people working there are suddenly arrogant and have an overconfidence that is enough to fill the room itself. You can totally tell that this place serves authentic Indian cuisine. It was delicious and for GREAT prices too! If you go at the peak time it can get pretty crowded so it could be hard to find a table. I got the main vegetable dish (#12) and it was delicious! The mango lassi was also great. I would totally come here again!
very very very unfriendly service from the owner to the last employee and they give a cursed if you buy or not. three times there. all three times, I had a fight with them and there was answer, they won't come if they can't handle this service.

It's not that easy to find good real indian restaurants sometimes, but this place was a great surprise. Great value for money! We were so happy with our thalis, that we came for dinner again the very next day.
I was almost 10. Here. especially Sunday dinner will not complete here and Sunday without badshah restaurant lunch. I would highly recommend to try the best Indian food in hamburg.
The place is terribly dirty and they serve food with hands.. they touch everything and rice is coming in a plastic bowl that is used in toilets:( i regret being there
If you haven't been here, stop reading and go! Food is delicious, try the samosas, they are what you will get India. The biggest positive, it's super cheap!
