Been driving by this place for 5 years and should've continued to do so. To make a stressful day a bit more brighter, my husband and I decided to go out for dinner and give this place a shot. As you walk in, it feels like you've been taken back into the 80s, ridiculously outaded chairs, vynyl tablecloths with felt bottom, plastic cups for drinks and my favorite red rose bouquets everywhere you look. Great restaurant! Such a variety! It is hard to find a seafood restaurant around here There were plenty of other options for jon seafood eaters.ooking forward to returning to try the prime rib. Service was Terrific! They Care!! Balch's had such amazing specials. I had the soft shell crab appetizer special and it was delicious. The portion sizes are more than you would expect. Complete dinners include salad that was fresh and had a terrific house dressing. Our dinners were huge and we had to take food home. Happy to know we have more to look forward to. The Apple Fritter dessert was amazing! We will be back. Loved this restaurant
We really like the food here. It's consistently good. It's Oktoberfest all month of October, and their menu doesn't disappoint. I didn't give it 5 stars because it smells like dirty carpet inside. Needs a major interior update. UPDATE 3/22 They cleaned the carpets so it smells much cleaner inside. But honestly, it's all about the delicious food there! It's always great!!
Balch's is a cute local eatery. Grace was our friendly helpful server. The Wednesday special was baked haddock, sweet potato fries, and mixed greens salad with feta, craisins, and walnuts. It was so good! Dessert was even better. I had chocolate chip cookie dough brownie with peanut butter. It was a delightful meal! Highly recommend.

I have been there several times, and the fish is always fresh and deliciously prepared. The rating is because there is no ambiance. The restaurant is old and worn and directly on a busy road, so if you are looking for that.. move on, but if you just want great food make this your stop!!
You get what you pay for in portions and sizes. We all took boxes to go after dinner and the food was very good. The restaurant atmosphere is very Old Man and the Sea styled inside. Our waitress Kinsey provided very good service as well.
My husband had a grouper sandwich he said was good. I ordered the shrimp basket. The shrimp were small a little over fried. I couldn't tell if the tails were on or off. Just not what I would expect from a seafood restaurant.
Delicious fried haddock. Not greasy at all, crisp and flaky. Banging Shrimp was very tasty. Service was on point and friendly. Great place! You should go!

Always great, dining in or Takeout. I have been eating here since 2005. I consider it a Fish Joint , but you can get so much more!
Had a roasted beet salad to die for. Haven't had a salad that good in a long time. Delicious.
