I reviewed here a while back and the food was shocking. Very glad to say it is much improved and deserves another mention. We came for quiz night and a lovely lady served us and was so attentive to all our requests. I hadn't seen her before We had Caesar salads and burgers (although debatable whether vegan cheese was in the vegan burger) it was all great. Fresh, big salads lively chips and all delicious. Bar staff attentive to replenishing drinks at the table which I love. Soda water was free a few days earlier but then I was charged 20p. Can't really complain at that price though. New menu since we last ate and Barley Mow is back. Pub quiz always great fun.

SO disappointing. We met my brother for an early dinner were tempted by the two main meals for £20 offer. Two us chose Calves liver with mash, veg gravy. The mash veg were ok, but the liver was definitely not calves and we were sure it was pigs liver, which is so much stronger. The liver was also totally over cooked as it was rock hard. The server checked with the chef, who responded that the packet said it was calves, but she would check with the butcher! An experienced eye should see the difference even when the liver is raw! Nothing was taken off the bill, which was even more disappointing! Certainly won’t be revisiting.
Christmas party night. Took forever to serve food was told be there for 7pm serving. Starter arrived 7.40. Turkey dinner okish nice turkey, vegetables under cooked could not even get a folk in carrots or parsnips, roast potatoes no colour at all. No extra gravy offered. Staff member just glared at my friend who said something. Desserts, chocolate torte very small serving. Sticky toffee pudding burnt underneath. No coffee as machine broken. Deffo needed more staff and maybe train them how to deal with a complaint. Music was ok.
The food was really good when it actually arrived. Unfortunately there was a theme night that evening and all prep was being done but I had booked a table as it was a treat for my friends birthday, was very disappointed to wait over 40minutes for our starter. The poor waitress was very embarrassed apparently as I had booked online and been given a booking number whoever deals with on-line orders had omitted to put it in the diary so we weren’t expected. Bless her. Book a table now
Came for dinner with family and our very cheeky dog. Mum has mobility issues and this was catered for as well as said dog. My partner is very fussy with food and used to mitchelin star restaurants, he said this restaurant definitely matches! All cooked fresh to an exceptional high standard on beautiful stoneware crockery. Presentation was beautiful and my partners rare steak spot on. We can't wait to return!
After waiting 35 minutes for bar food to be served, I enquired, and was told we would be the next table but still had to wait another 10 minutes. 45 minutes wait for 4 bar meals and despite several opportunities, not one word of apology not good. The food was fine but could not recommend on this experience.
Drinks superb, friendly and welcoming, food although delicious took an hour to come, it was a sharing platter, the excuse given was they had a big order before us… half the pub is a restaurant, only one large table… if this was a ‘normal’ evening in a pub, god knows when we would have been served!
Enjoyed our visit. Much more professional under new management. To be friendly to families, should consider cost of kids drinks. £2.50 for a fruit shoot is £1.50 more than average and more than I’ve ever paid. We hence left after one drink. Book a table now
