Visited after it was recommended by a friend. Not the cheapest for fish and chips a regular cod and chips was £10.25 but prices are going up everywhere. Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips which were still piping hot and not greasy when returned home. My only criticism was the chip portion was on the small size compared with elsewhere for the price £3.00). Looked like they did lots of other goodies such as burgers, sausages, scampi, piri piri and cheesy chips, etc. so will be back to try more in future! A good find and I have only marked it down because of the size of the portion of chips.
I’ve had a transformative experience! On January 23, 2024, I walked in not knowing what to expect, and I left completely changed. The cashier was incredibly friendly and helped me make my decision, going above and beyond with her cheerful demeanor and helpful suggestions. Both staff members were very professional and served my food quickly! I ordered a battered sausage with cheesy chips, and wow, was it incredible! I will never visit another fish and chip shop again. I highly recommend that you stop by and treat yourself—you won’t be disappointed!
Having to stay in a hotel for work I was looking for more than the usual junk food chain stores, found Barry’s on my phone maps by chance near the hotel. Very friendly owners. Delicious haddock and chips and the curry sauce is mega. And us northerners know a good chip shop, this one has sommat moist as well. A little more expensive than up north but you get what you pay for, quality! Very happy. I’ll be back when i’m next stopping in the area.
Haven’t been here since Barry owned it. Certainly a bigger menu and some traditional home made Indian dishes to compliment the chip shop fare. The chap serving was very excitable, comparable to a young child on Xmas eve or a springier spaniel puppy with a good bone though polite and courteous with it. Paneer roll was lovely as were the freshly cooked chips.

The food was delightful and the staff were very friendly; I would definitely recommend this place. I ordered the cod with large chips. The cod had a crispy batter and was delicious, and the chips are made fresh approximately every 15 minutes, so they are always served hot and tasty.
I am very pleased to say that I have always had a nice meal served by lovely people. We often go to Barry Place on Fridays for a wide variety of meals fish, scampi, chicken and very tasty curry sauce. Not forgetting juicy gerkins ... I would recommend Barry's Place to everyone.

I stopped by for some fish and chips. The fish was fantastic, and the chips were delicious too. I could have used a few more chips, but I ordered the regular portion instead of the large.

Very disappointing, fish was like a long fishfinger , chips were mediocre, poor service and couldn’t be bothered to add salt and vinegar .
Worst chips I've ever had! i shall never go there again. at best yesterday reheated leftovers if your a chip shop get trhe chips right
