Was definitely a surprise how good the food was... We are from Texas and didn't expect the food here to taste like back home... 1st place I have been in a long time.that had a fried Bologna sandwich on the menu... between that and the fried pork chop the fish basket and rhe chicken bog... the fried Bologna sandwich was definitely my favorite... Best I've had in a long time. I can't recommend this place enough. We came late and didn't realize they were closing. But the manager let us order Togo and the food was so good we came back the next day to dine in. The collard green dip was delicious and served with fresh tortilla chips. We are visiting from out of town so at a family members great review suggestion we decided to try Big Mike's. Got to this restaurant about 8:30pm. We knew it was 30 mins before closing so we asked if it was too late to order. We were told no so we ordered 1 Big Mike pork chop meal with mac and cheese, okra, and mash potatoes with gravy...1 Lil Mike chicken meal with rice and gravy and potato salad ..and 1 Seafood platter with okra instead of fries. (WHAT WE GOT WAS) mash
When I arrived on the block, you could see the parking lot was full of cars and people were standing all on the outside. My party of four waited an hour just to be able to get inside for a table. I was hoping the food would be worth the wait. I was thoroughly pleased with the amount of food I received for the price. The service was very hospitable as well. It was very busy. Wait for seating inside was full. We ended up ordering outside at the window. Food was good and prices were good. We got a meat and two sides which were the BBQ ribs, Mac n cheese, and greens with cornbread for $10! I got the shrimp seafood boil with sausage, potatoes, apiece of corn and a boiled egg for $20. Good portions and food. Waited about 25 minutes.
Line was long but when u service good food it makes sense. I got the fried chicken meal with candied yams, rice n gravy and baked beans. The chicken was most and juicy with alot of flavor. The yams were DAMN good and the rice and baked beans were good too. If your not in a rush then you should definitely stop here, you won't regret it!
This was great soul food. It was very flavorful. Definitely glad we stopped here to eat while on vacation. The wait was not to bad. We ordered outside and picked it up inside. The parking was little tough cause it was packed when we went. But you can tell it was packed cause everyone wanted some good food!
WOW! What a meal, what an environment. If you come to Myrtle Beach and miss out on this place, you should hang your head in shame. I travel all over the SE USA, and I've eaten at to many places to count, I believe this is the best little, hidden gem I've yet to discover. Book a table now
