I stopped by Bush's Chicken to pick up dinner for my husband and me on the way home from work, and had to wait about 20 minutes for our food. Unfortunately, when we got home, I discovered that the only things they got right were our drinks and my husband's side. We had ordered two chicken liver meals—one with fried okra and the other with mashed potatoes—but instead received tough, rock-hard chicken gizzards and undercooked fries instead of the fried okra. It was very disappointing.
What sets them apart is the ability to select your own chicken pieces! The homemade rolls are consistently warm, and my favorite side is the mac and cheese. The chicken is absolutely delicious. The restaurant is always clean. This is my go-to spot for lunch when I'm in Waco. I really wish they would open more locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, aside from the one location in the far eastern suburbs.
As the sole customer, my needs were promptly attended to. The chicken tasted just as expected, and the Texas Pete hot sauce added a perfect kick. The roll was warm and soft on the inside. I also appreciated the offer of a sweet tea refill. Keep up the excellent work!
