We arrived, hungry, after the kitchen had closed. However, we were still provided with our lunch! Many places in the area serve indistinguishable generic versions of the traditional local cuisine, often straight out of a jar or can, with frozen American-style "french fries". Not the Café Aux Trois Moulins! The Carbonnade was obviously genuine, non-industrial, home-cooked food; The Croque Monsieur just as you'd like to make it for yourself. And as a real surprise, the frites are real and much tastier than the ubiquitous modern offering found elsewhere. Some of the reviews here complain about the price of the food and an alleged lack of quality. They've either reviewed the wrong place or they a...

Super, traditional, old fashioned, cafe bar. Looks like it's straight out of a Maigret novel - tiled floor from the last century, dark wood panelling, really old fashioned toilets, and twisting stairs. Fabulous. Super staff, friendly and courteous. Traditional simple French cafe food - Flemish carbonade, steak hachés with proper fried onions, ham and chips - and the chips are, joy o joy, frites maison (home cooked) Green salad was a lettuce cut fresh from the garden by the charming elderly lady working there. Pancakes stacked in a pile for afters - all helped ourselves and ate with brown sugar and coffee. Fab

Been here several times for drinks and once to eat (a few years back). A genuine "locals" bar - great original old-fashioned bar furniture/décor. Friterie attached. Seems to be family run - an elderly couple and younger man who fronts it. Agree with Gent_Jim's comments on the food - eating Potjevleesch without knowing what to expect is a bit like ordering jellied eels in the East End of London or haggis in Scotland - an acquired taste! You love it or hate it!!! I love this place and will happily go back to eat/drink and soak up the atmosphere.

We have eaten and drunk here several times now over a number of years, and no trip to this area would be complete now for us without popping in. The welcome from (I think) Ronald,Jean-Pierre and Francine, is always really warm in spite of the fact that we are by no means regulars. The Carbonade and the Potjevleesch are both very good, the chips are to die for, as is the salad (many thanks to Gent_Jim for giving the secret recipe of the dressing!) The Trois Moulins is unique and has great charm! Book a table now

This is a typical old fashioned French restaurant. A choice of about 6 dishes all freshly cooked. We saw chef go to his garden to pick fresh lettuce as he had just run out. The atmosphere was wonderfully real and we have already booked a trip to return here in 2 months. So refreshing and not a tourist in sight. The locals could not have been more welcoming. Locals were also turning up with large bowls for our host to fill with take away frites to have with their lunch at home. Marvellous!

This is just such a great find I have to agree the best frites I have ever had.We only stopped for a snack and they were so welcoming even rearranged the tables to fit us in.We had croque Monsieur whic was the best I have had recently nothing was too much trouble we will certainly visit again and have a proper meal as the food looked so good.

Lovely friendly accommodating welcome. The fact that they wasn't planning on doing food was no problem and we had some lovely frites, salad and meat knocked up for us. A nice little family owned business and I highly recommend a visit. If you want some proper Flemish culture and great food this is the place to go.

We ate a traditional hamburger 'steak haché' with fries and salat. A typical crepe and a ' grand cafe au lait' for dessert. Very good quality-price relationship. In total for 2 it was around 25E. The owners were lovely and nice. Recommended! Book a table now
