I live very close by and often go on a Friday evening after arriving home from work. The current owners have made an excellent effort in remaining within the style of a typical French Brasserie but have added an excellent menu. Great, slightly trendy place in nice country village we stopped in by chance on a trip from Italy to UK. Restaurant is on the central square with a nice deck/terrace and interesting decor (old Paris metro chairs inside). We visited in midst of a heatwave and were desperate for water, which disorganised staff took exceedingly long time to deliver. We were in for nearly an hour before we got any food. Once it arrived however it was very, very good: memorable XXL steak, brilliant chips and salade composee, followed by excellent rhubarb parfait, washed down by fairly priced Chapoutier St Joseph. Had lunch there last month on 2 occasions. The Café Français with high ceiling is a typical French Brasserie Restaurant. We ordered the luncheon set menu every time and the food is very good. Service was courteous and efficient. The only downfall is that Wifi was rather erratic but will return when in Saint Amour.
Very interesting cafe, Good attentive service without being too "in your face". St Amour was very quiet, but the Cafe Francais was very busy! We both had Menu du Jour, it was well cooked, well presented. Definitely one to re visit!
