Disappointed with our lunch recently. We were a group of 6 who haven't eaten in Cafe Gandolfi for a number of years and we were expecting food of remembered good quality and value, however, some of our choices from the menu were a real let down. We were served salads that were piled high of lettuce but very little else and Macaroni Cheese (how can you get this wrong? which seemed devoid of cheese and lacking in any taste at all! Cafe Gandolfi has a wonderful ambiance and the service was good (apart from a lipstick stained glass for water which had to be pointed out, but these things happen so it's even more of a pity that the food itself, considering it's not inconsiderable cost, didn't matc...

Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was excellent. I found the food variable. Of the trio of pates, we found the chicken liver pate very dry but the other two were OK. The toast that came with it was lovely, the best part really but it was a tiny portion, just one very thin slice quartered, although another slice was produced very quickly when we asked for more, it still wasn't much especially as we'd said it was a shared starter. My husband enjoyed his pastrami open sandwich. My goat's cheese salad wasn't a success. The cheese was very dry, sharp and acidic and I could only eat a small portion of it. I would go again but choose something else from the menu. We're going to try Gandolfi Fi...
I love Gandolfi's and living overseas now make a point of visiting every time I come home... Usually do lunch or dinner but stuck a bit for time so could only fit in brekkie which I had not done before. Sounded good as menu was extensive, but experience was not great. Very quiet (so atmosphere a bit lacking) but still received little attention from the staff and a request for a second coffee never materialised. So will still return because I love the place, but just not for brekkie!
Glad I booked a table as it was pretty busy, obvioulsy a popular place for a Sunday breakfast. Food was very good, well presented and of a good amount, not too muc or too little. Staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The genreal ambiance was just as expected on a sunday morning, with a few large tables of friends meeting up and others just reading the papers. There was no rush to leave the table even though the place was busy which was nice. Book a table now
Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough if you are looking for a quality all round experience. The food is beautifully prepared, the service is excellent even the tables and chairs are wonderfully unique. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening for two on a long weekend visit to Glasgow, and the visit set the scene for that weekend!
Back again, and what a great menu. We're not vegetarians, but the vegetarian options sounded so appealing that we went for them with the house recommendation on wine. Great food, great service and a fine wee bar upstairs for that pre-dinner aperitif. Thoroughly recommended.
Great breakfast as usual on Friday at Cafe Gandolfi. Took someone new to the city there and they loved it. Service is never intrusive, food excellent. Love the relaxed atmosphere. Just wish could have breakfast there and so leisurely most mornings!
A delightful early dinner in Cafe Gandolfi, service and food very good as always, nice early evening ambience and unlike some others no attempt to rush you out the door to free up a table. Book a table now
We have now been 3 times the quality is always excellent. The Eggs Hebridean are superb and its nice to get freshly squeezed orange juice
