Been there 3 or 4 times for breakfast / brunch .. consistently good food, consistently slow service. There is something about the way they process the orders from the front counter that necessitates the order taker saying "I won't be a minute" after taking the previous order, then disappearing into the kitchen for a good 30 seconds before coming back and apologising for the wait. They must do a lot of apologising. And delivery times post-ordering are long even when there's no obvious reason. A pity because the staff are really polite and attentive, the food is always good and is good value. If they fixed the service I'd be rating Calegeros 4 or better.
Today we decided to once again try this cafe - which sits within an Italian grocery store which has been there for yonks. We tried it several months ago and it was a disaster - new concept but had no direction etc. Thankfully it is much improved, with a cafe manager etc. Still room for improvement re 2nd coffees to hard to order as even though you're dining IN you need to join the 'takeaway' line. Too hard. And my husband ordered Shashooka which took an eternity - I'd finished my breakfast before it arrived. And it was disappointing. Great coffee and nice staff.
We visited about 18 months ago just after they opened. There were clearly issues in management because there were a heap of staff and our order was lost.We vowed to return and staff were a lot better organised.We ordered the house break fast and shakshuka. I was told that the shakshuka would take 10 to 15 minutes. However, half an hour was more realistic.Both meals were good but the shakshuka was supposed to have chili but it was very low heat.Service was very good and we are glad we came back.Still a few raw edges need smoothingWill give it another go
Calogero's is our local coffee joint, we walk there most weekends. Breakfast is good with good coffee. Lunch is really good, large portions with authentic Italian food with good service. All the locals go so you will always see someone you know. It's a gourmet deli with a cafe in the front section of the store. The menu is not extensive or pretentious, just good food. Cutlets with huge serving of salad or pasta with some amazing sauces. If it's not on the menu they will make to order depending on how busy they are.

Only been here for coffee but it has been really awesome, service is quick and friendly and the coffee excellent and at a really good price too. There are 4 free parking spots literally outside on the pavement which is nice in Fremantle, home of the dedicated parking warden. It's a modernised old style coffee shop, you can get your groceries, have a meal or just have a coffee. Really well worth a visit.
We had a 50th birthday there for 20 people on thursdaynight and WOW!!!We had a set menu of entree mains sweets and coffee.The food was Brilliant.We all thought we were in Italy.Everyone went home with big smilesand no breakfast the next day.To nick,the chef and all the staff you made my cousins night.Thank you.thank you thank you.You have 20 new customers with lots of friends.
Enjoy dropping in here for a coffee and feel comfortable having a chat to the staff and always greeted with a smile. Love the feel of Calogero's and have converted a number of friends who are also regular visitors. It's a gem. A convenience store is part of the setup and offers a selection of dairy, vegetables, smallgoods etc.
The coffee here is always good and since the renovations, Calogero's is an interesting mix of coffee, shop and meeting place in true Italian style.

What a transformation from the Fruit Market! There's a cafe out front and the rest of the store is deli and grocery.
Unfortunately our table was very disappointed with the brunch we had here.
