Food is generally good, although they do sometimes mix orders resulting in literally a 'mixed bag ' of food. Where this place let 's it down is service, there seems to be nobody who is in charge and the staff seem poorly trained. They don 't even know their own menu and ordering is often a chore the iPad till set up should be fairly straightforward to use but even this confuses their front of house staff. Top marks for the Katsu Curry, and the wraps are good.
I regularly go to Canaca for my lunch, if I want something substantial. It's very reasonably-priced, the service is friendly and quick, and the food is invariably excellent (and pretty healthy for fast food! . I usually go for their rice boxes (their Katsu Curry and Thai Green Curry are particularly good , and I'll be working my way through the other options over the coming year!
Ordered two items from the menu Greek Gyros rice box and a Steak Cheese wrap. The rice box arrived fine. However the steak cheese wrap on been bitten into had changed imto a buffalo chicken wrap. On querying we were told that the steak had run out and that the chef had decided to change the menu. Sorry won't be back and won't be recommending Canaca as a place to eat
Had the sweet and sour stir fry noodles with chicken, and wanted to be slightly awkward in my order by asking for some extra of the katsu curry sauce. They were more than happy to do so, and the food was delicious. Really recommend this place, even if you have a slightly awkward order like mine. Book a table now
Greta staff great prices But the one dish that I ordered wasn't accurately cooked to standard I ordered Greek chicken gyros and tasted like chicken tikka or shawrma The taste was very far off and the chicken not grilled enough needs more time on the grill
Had the Japanese katsu chicken. Came extremely quick and was really tasty, could have done with a little more sauce as it was slightly dry. However can’t really fault the place. Quite high prices. Overall good spot to eat.
Great wholesome food (couldn’t eat it all), chicken was beautiful. Bit of a wait but that’s what you would expect from lunchtime in Newcastle. Good student discount aswell, looking forward to going again next week!
The women was very helpful with me wanting to change parts of my order which i wasn't too keen on, she didn't have an issue. The loyalty card and student discount is also a massive bonus. Book a table now
You can see why this is the most popular dish great for a quick bite at lunch. Really friendly welcoming atmosphere and great food 100% recommend.
