We went for our daughter's anniversary in late September. The restaurant is set in a medieval village with a chateau and fortified church. You have to park and walk the last 50m down a cobbled traffic free lane. The restaurant is divided into two parts - a bistro style and a gourmand style. The décor is quirky but fun. The staff are attentive and the service is excellent. That day's menu(s) is on a chalk board brought to the table and explained in detail by the waitress. They are fixed price 6 or 8 tasting courses depending on which side of the restaurant you are sitting. There are a couple of variations but otherwise "what you see is what you get". It is meat orientated, with no options - so...

Far from being closed the Cap E Tot is up and running and serving fantastic food. It's a unique experience dining here. There are lots of objets and you can watch the meals being prepared. The main room includes a pitch for playing the Basque game Quilles de Neuf, a very ancient and unique bowls-like game. Don't worry though. They're unlikely to be playing while you're eating the absolutely delicious food. First you go down to the cave and select your wine from the many bottles displayed there (all priced) and then you start on the Menu Degustation (38 euros): six courses with wonderful flavours and tastes - cappucino de potiron, ravioles de boeuf pot au feu, filet de merluchon poele et artic...
We have a country house in the region and we are always a bit disappointed by restaurants .Limited efforts to make local food in an authentic way and usually restaurants try , unfortunately , to imitate , with no success , Parisian restaurants .Here you will get a bit of fresh air .Yes , a bit Parisian food but really good .First of all a great ambiance. A restaurant half occupied by space dedicated to some kind of game ( no idea what it is ) and with the equipment , probably for concerts .Very weird .The restaurant is open 3 or 4 days a week !!!.But the food is really good . Not fantastic but the best we have eaten in the region unless you want to go to the basque coast .Original also the c...
We absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. Unusually the restaurant partly overlooks a decorated old sports court of some sort, not sure what sport, maybe some sort of skittles. It's quirky decoration with even upside down tables on the ceiling has been well thought through and make for an informal unusual ambience. We were directed to a very well stocked wine cellar, we chose an excellent Pouilly Fume (€23) and a Fleurie (€23). We opted for the 3 course menu at €30 with a choice of 4 entrees 4 Plat, 3 desserts or cheese. A couple of supplements for more expensive dishes. Our bill came to €177.50 for 4 including 2 bottles of wine and a glass of Jurancon. Remember the limited openi... Book a table now
We arrived on schedule for a pre-booked evening meal to find a 'party' group assembling to celebrate whatever. Despite the amount of people assembled we were attended to immediately and escorted to our table. We opted for the 3-course Menu (30 Euros). Each course was served at appropriate times and were all delicious: quality preparation, food and presentation. We have visited the Cap e Tot restaurant several times over the last four or so years and it has never disappointed. Staff are friendly, service is efficient and the chef magnificent
Not only was the meal excellent and ambiance inviting and convivial but I got to watch a match of quilles after dinner ( a local occitan version of bowling!! ) Its nice that they have two separate venues one gastronomic ( fancy ) and the other more informal casual. Reserve early and make sure you either are with someone who knows the area or that you have a good GPS!! Especially at night! But well worth the trip if youre in the Souther part of the Aquitaine region near Pau!
A golden needle in the haystack! Two restaurants in one, fancy gourmet downstairs and a bistro more reasonable prices upstairs. Plus if you go for dinner at the end of service the boss/chef plays Quilles a local game thats a cross between billiards and bowling as far as I can tell. The food was excellent we ate in the bistro area its not far from the chateau also worth a visit! Call ahead to make a reservation its very busy with local residents!!!!!
Stylish and quirky restaurant in a pretty country village setting. Interesting, atypical and eclectic menu, quite a change from the 'if you don't like duck you're rather stuck' norm. A subterranean trip to select your wine is an unusual gimic, but don't send grandpa without checking the insurance. Pleasant service and tasty food. Book a table now
Went there with family last month because my gf's oncle offered us this restaurant. Everything pretty professional, liked the service, the place, the deco and the cellar/bodega, where you can pick you own wine beforehand. Food was quality and overall everything was very tasty and...well combined. I recommend it
