I went back to Captain D's today to see if anything had improved, but I think I will hold off on returning for a while. The staff didn’t seem to take pride in their work and treated customers poorly, as if we were a nuisance. The restaurant was also quite dirty; there was leftover food on the table I was seated at, and none of the nearby tables had been cleaned. It made for an unpleasant dining experience overall.
I visited on November 9, 2020, and ordered the ultimate spicy fish plate. I was surprised to find hair in the fried okra—definitely not a pleasant surprise! As a result, I received two free meals for my next visit, but I have decided I won’t be returning.
Some say the Jasper, AL Capt. D's is the most frequented in the nation. (Probably not. They do have well prepared whitefish, especially if you like it battered fried. Quick, kind, courteous service, healthy green sides too. It is what it is, Captain D's.

The food is still good as it has been for years but as any other price for food, it's increased. Cost more, less portions, is typical. They were out of double shrimp and oysters. I'd suggest taking those advertisements off the walls.
This Captain D's is truly fantastic! The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive. I'm so glad Jasper has this restaurant! I’ve always left satisfied!
