Ok, so it's not the Brown Dog any more. However, this cafe fails to stand on its own merit. The menu is far more limited, the staff unfriendly, the food non-descript. There was only one soup to choose from - potato leek. My friend thought it was made from a powder with water added. I found it extremely flavourless. Neither of us finished it on a dreary, cold day when a bowl of soup would be welcome. The quiche certainly looked and tasted like it was made with that egg mixture you pour from a carton. Again, flavourless, not very hot and most of the bottom crust was raw. They tossed a meager sample of some greens onto the plate that had absolutely nothing on them. To be fair, we had soup with...

Arrived from out of town with a group of 7. Great downtown location. The place looked clean and attractive. We sat outside and enjoyed a gorgeous view overlooking the Brant River on a sunny summer Sunday. The coffee was very good and so were the apple fritters, which they appear to specialize in. The tables on the patio were all small and offered two seats, not very welcoming to larger groups. However, they were out of so many things from what already appeared to be a very limited menu to begin with. The service was not the pleasant kind you'd expect from small-town Ontario. And there was prolonged and considerable water hitting the awning coming from something on the floor above that was ex...

I had hoped that the coffee shop would hold same charm & appeal that the cafe in the location previously; Brown Dog Cafe, did. I was wrong. What used to be bustling with young and old alike, was an empty shell- same feel as a bare cafeteria with minimal menu and cold ambiance. I asked the counter staff if there was any food and they said 'yes but it's closed in 25 minutes so we aren't currently taking orders for food'. Pardon? If it's not closed for 25 minutes. You're taking orders for the next 25 minutes. Sorry to 'bother' you but you're in the customer service industry and should also be trying to increase sales - so you have a job to grumpily attend on a regular basis. Won't go again.

We stopped in for a quick bite to eat before going to a funeral visitation. It was only 6:05 but the clerk announced that they stopped serving food at 6 pm. The only food available was in the bakery case. I chose the quiche and a water. The water arrived in a chipped mason jar, having just been taken from the tap. I sent it back because of the chip and cloudy appearance. The quiche arrived steaming hot from the microwave. I couldn't eat it for quite a while and when I did it was completely rubbery and tasteless. The crust was rubbery as well. There is no way they should have heated it up in a micro. I won't be back. Pos: Good lemonade. Good fruit smoothie. Muffins looked good. Nice patio over looking the river.Cons: Terrible food. Grilled Cheese wasn't even melted inside even after asking for it to be well done. The Vegetable sandwich was pitiful . Hardly any cream cheese, and a pathetic amount of tomato and cucumber and too spinach. Bread was fresh though. All in all a terrible experience.

Fast and friendly service is the hallmark of this place which used to be the Brown Dog Cafe - scones and apple dumplings still rule for sweets to go along with your libation. Enjoy!

The food at this restaurant was decent, but the service was incredibly slow. Despite this, everyone in my group enjoyed the dishes that they ordered. Book a table now
