Carvel Express is now open on Northfield Ave, right across from Turtle Back Zoo and the Safari Mini Golf Adventure! We visited today for some ice cream and were pleased to find a very clean Carvel Express with numerous COVID-19 safety measures in place. Social distancing markers and plexiglass barriers were set up to protect both guests and staff. The employees were friendly, helpful, and accurate with our order. I was excited to see the extensive menu of cakes available in their cake book, which I even recorded on video below! The soft serve was just as delicious as expected.
This restaurant features a tidy shop and a welcoming staff. They serve incredible soft serve with an extensive range of options. Their ice cream cakes are both fresh and tasty, available in various sizes and designs. You can also purchase cups of extra crunchies, and as any crunchie lover will tell you, Carvel offers the best. Speaking of which, don’t miss their Crazy for Crunchies Cake – it's fantastic! Just make sure to order that and any custom cakes at least two days in advance. And don’t forget, they have Buy One Get One Free deals on Sundays, valid on Wednesdays.
Ordered a custom cake (extra crunchies) for my daughters birthday. I called the Carvel closest to my house and they were not very helpful. I then called the West Orange Carvel. Staff could not be nicer. I picked up the cake no issues?served ityesterday. My nephew was complaining when we were cutting it that it was so unoriginal?until we tasted it?OMG it wasdelicious. He was talking about it for the rest of the night?for that matter so was everyone else. From the service to theactual product could not be happier. Highly recommend the West Orange Carvel.
I ordered a custom cake with extra crunchies for my daughter's birthday. I first called the Carvel closest to my house, but the staff there were not very helpful. I then reached out to the Carvel in West Orange, and the staff could not have been nicer. I picked up the cake without any issues, and we served it yesterday. My nephew was complaining while we were cutting it that it looked so unoriginal, but once we tasted it—oh my goodness, it was fantastic! He couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the night, and neither could anyone else.

I recently visited to pick up a birthday cake, and I had a delightful experience. The young man at the counter was incredibly kind and apologized in advance if the writing on the cake wasn't perfect since he was still learning. I reassured him that anything he created would far exceed what I could do! He mentioned that another customer had complained about his cake writing skills, and it was only then that I noticed a physical deformity he had. It made me feel sad to think that someone could be so unkind. I truly applaud his efforts.
I was really disappointed with the ice cream here. I've never encountered a Carvel vanilla soft serve that was icy and grainy before, but unfortunately, that was the case this time. While the staff was friendly, the quality of the product just wasn't up to par.
I visited this place after a trip to the zoo, and I was delighted by the huge serving of ice cream I received. It was a perfect treat to cool down on a warm day. Carvel truly is the best!

The soft serve ice cream is quite good, though it is a bit on the expensive side. It can be quite noisy inside because of the loud equipment.
I purchased a $33 ice cream cake that was only average. I’d suggest finding a better option elsewhere, as it doesn’t justify the cost.
