We recently attended Carsoni and were extremely disappointed. We ordered the 'Pallastrini Sardines with grilled sourdough'. What arrived was an open tin of sardines on a plate (with grilled sourdough). Tinned sardines in a restaurant???? We then had the Tagliatelle pasta with Ricotta and Pumpkin. The texture of the pasta was right off - gluey. The ricotta and pumpkin was just a mash. The components lacked integrity, the dish lacked structure and the whole thing was sludgy with an unpleasant undertone. The extreme disappointment continued with the Limoncello Tiramisu. It was flat, lacked vibrance and depth. And the final insult - no real coffee - pod filter-like coffee...

After planning on going for a very long time we finally made it there and had an incredibly lovely evening. We went around 6:30pm on a Saturday night and nabbed the last spot for two. The service was excellent - very attentive and friendly. The food was incredible - particularly the pumpkin ravioli in sage and burnt butter. Ahh it was to die for.. It was absolutely perfect. We finished off with the cannoli, which was fortunately not too sweet after such a rich meal. We will certainly be back again!
I will come back time and time again - the food is exceptional and decently priced. It's a gem of a find! The atmosphere is relaxed but the food is better than what I've had in fine dining venues. The food is full of flavour and there was nothing I could suggest for improvement. I came here for my birthday in a group of 8 people - we got the Menu Fisso (set menu). We had a generous amount of food for everyone and partnered this with Aperol Spritz.
We thought we'd try this place out for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Firstly, service:- good✅. Secondly, wine list, good selection, not too many, just right✅✅. Then food:- tasty!! ✅✅✅. We had the pumpkin ravioli with burnt butter (signature dish), the pappardelle for mains. Very tasty food, good quantity as well. For $115 for a bottle of good wine and 2 mains, ✅✅✅✅. Highly recommend it! Book a table now
This is a place to go on a date and have an affordable yet quality degustation. At $55 each you are fed dish after dish of the meditteraneans' finest modern dishes. Cloud like gnocchi, zesty ceviche, aromatic aranchini and molten burrata just a few highlights. Top this off with refreshing Aperol Spritzers and a few extra-dirty martini's and you've got yourself a recipe for success ;)
What I loved about Casoni was it's homely and comfortable atmosphere. It's casual feel combined with it's Italian inspired 'like a home cooked meal' food, on-point cocktails and killer wine list really gives it the edge in my eyes. What I also love is the weekly pasta specials, you never know what concoction the chefs will be dishing up the week you go. Element of surprise...
I'd been eyeing out this restaurant for awhile. We had the olives and sardines to start which were great. The octopus was fantastic but I was a little let down by the pumpkin ravioli, it's was still great but I have an aversion to oil and this is a part of the dish. I found a lovely Chardonnay on the wine list and the ambience of the restaurant is really great. I would go back
Maybe not the most authentic Italian food I've been told, but most certainly the best damn tasting Italian food I've come across. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. Expect to pay more than your average Italian restaurant, but then again, you get what you pay for. Have been the Casoni three times and will most definitely go back for more. Book a table now
A cosy little restaurant with fantastic food, wine, service and atmosphere. I had the salmon and my husband had the bolognese. Both were excellent. Will definitely come back!
