Was basically lied to when enquired by phone, ranging from its out for delivery, it’s left and should be there in 5 minutes, it hasn’t left yet as it’s on the hot plate, it’s leaving in 15 minutes, to the driver was delivering it and had a car accident and had to go to hospital. I sincerely hope the latter was not a lie, it’s a terrible one if it was, but I hope the driver was ok if genuine. We placed an order for delivery through Just Eat at 5:45, with an estimated arrival time of 7:30. We waited until 8:00, then called multiple times to inquire about our order, only to be given misleading information. Frustrated by 9:00, we decided to pick up the order ourselves. Jalfrezi Korma were very basic but OK, not particularly tasty but not dreadful. The Onion Bhaji's were clearly not fresh, im hoping on 2/3 days old and microwaved or refried but could be worse not thinking about it. Peshwari Naan was actually OK probably 6/10, Poppadams were OK although some overcooked which is an accomplishment in itself, didnt effect taste. The usual dipping sauces were fine, mango chutney, mint and onion salad. No chance of ordering again and would definitely put you off, unless you are desperate, it hasnt made me ill which is a positive!
Ordered a takeaway to be delivered, after an hour and a half, it hadn’t materialised and the restaurant used the excuse there was no mobile phone number on the system despite the driver being in the hotel with clear instructions to deliver to the hotel room. The restaurant then reassured me the order would be delivered in 10 minutes and then to my dismay the delivery driver went awol and even the restaurant could not contact him to find out his where abouts, and I got no apology for the inconvenience. Avoid !!!!

I ordered online as delivery was stated as available. I mistakenly chose pick up so called and requested delivery instead. I was told the driver had gone home so I requested a cancellation and ordered elsewhere. False advertising! The following morning I had a missed call from who I now was a delivery driver and they wanted to deliver after all. Called the evening after to be told it was my fault and I could not have a refund. THE MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE TO ME. AVOID!
Nice welcome, attentive staff but the food was nothing special at all. Chicken tikka was basically a bowl of tomato soup with a few extras spices and lumps of chicken. Chicken shashlik was better, but not particularly hot (temperature, that is). It was okay, but I wouldn’t visit again based on this experience.
I arrived at the restaurant late and my food was cold. The rogan josh had spilled all over the inside of the take away bag and the pashwari naan did not have any raisins despite being advertised with them. The Tikka was also bland and the portion of rice was small. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
I witnessed an elderly chef licking a spoon and rinsing it in a sink before using the same sink to fill a bag with salad moments later. The food had no flavor, and I ended up spending the entire night on the toilet. Consider this your first warning and avoid dining at this establishment.

Used castlegate for the first time, for a takeaway for myself and wife. Service excellent and very friendly Food was excellent,about £20. Good value,will be using castlegate Again very soon. Many thanks
Had two take always so far and they have both been delivered quickly and the food is absolutely delicious, value for money definitely our Indian of choice in future.
