Kaysersberg is a hidden gem in the Alsace region and is strongly recommended if you are visiting the area. We visited the region during the Christmas season and we were lucky enough to have lunch at the Caveau du Schlossberg. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, there is a bar type/Bistrot on the ground floor and an "a la carte" restaurant located in the basement that servea tradutional Alsacian food. The dishes are tasty with generous servings. We have also had great house wines (red and white) from the town wineries. We were 7 guests and we enjoyed our time greatly. The service was fast and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We had an excellent waiter, Francis (dit "Bruce" for rese...

We wanted a quick snack one evening and stopped here after reading other reviews. We decided to share a flambé tartes and ordered that and two glasses of red wine. The waiter brought us the glasses of a local pinot noir. They were cold from the fridge. The glasses had condensation on them and the temperature outside was a comfortable 70°F. When the tartes arrived, the edges were blackened charcoal and inedible. The flavor of the tartes was good, but it would have been more satisfying if it weren't charred. The waiter came and cleared our plates and glasses away and asked if we wanted anything else, we said no, thanks. We expected the check to be brought but had to wave him down to request it...
We were so hungry, arriving in Kaysersberg, that we picked Caveau du Schlossberg almost at random, thinking it must be good given the number of people seated at the outdoor tables. Having secured one of the last lunch tables available outside, we perused the menu (only in French and German), and were assisted by very welcoming and helpful staff in my poor French and their poor English. We picked on a superb linguine with langoustines and prawns, and a delectable veal wrapped in cheese, and were very impressed with the quality, freshness, preparation and presentation. Not cheap by any means, but good value for money, and better than one might expect from the rather casual appearance of the pl...
We were visiting friends who were staying at the local campground and they wanted us to have an authentic Alsatien meal. They had scoped out the restaurants in Kayserberg to find the best Baeckeoffe - a "stew" where the farm women from a simpler time would prepare the meal and take to a baker where the food that was put in a clay pot would bake all day. It had three different kinds of meat that had been soaked in Reisling along with potatoes, carrots and spices. It was excellent and we all enjoyed it along with a lovely local wine. The meal for the four of us was 80 Euros; very reasonable. The atmosphere and the service was very good. Book a table now
This was our second choice, but we were not disappointed and it is considerably cheaper than our first choice would have been, so pleased about that.We thought the radiant would be very touristy, but the staff are pleasant, the food tasty and reasonably priced. The head waiter was excellent, as was his grasp of French, German and English. Would happily frequent this restaurant again. 4.5 stars would be a fairer assessment.
Lovely venue downstairs in a sort of crypt type area. As you can see from the photos the food was both amazing, good value and very reasonably priced. I would visit Kaysersberg just to go to the restaurant again. My husband had the local charcuterie dish and loved it, as did our french friend. Apparently, the dish is local to the area.
This town has many super looking restaurants but this one was a good choice. The local food is excellent and the staff attentive. We ate the local flan and stew, washed down with a wonderful local Riesling. The pudding was good too. The bill came to just under £100 for 4 of us, which was very good value.
Our group dropped in here for tarte flame and a few drinks. It is one of the few places that still serve after 9:30 at night. Simple authentic food and reasonably priced drinks. Service is fast without much fuss. Great place to just sit in the twilight, and sip beer or wine till late. Book a table now
Arrived on a Sunday at 12:30. Of course there was no room outside, in the loud area. Instead, they offered us a table downstairs which turned out to be quiet and nice. Food was good and service friendly.
Eat and drank there twice. Great food. Good selection of beers and wine. English spoken. Very friendly and entertaining staff. Great fun was had. Recommended
