The service at this restaurant was pleasant, but the wine only arrived after we had already started our first course, and the wine that came was incorrect. The melon sorbet served with unripe fruit was not satisfying, as the flavors were off. The pork rillette was decent. The Barnsley chops were very good, but the fondant potatoes and stuffed under-boiled tomatoes were lukewarm. The dish with new potatoes and "picked ice cream" had a re-heated look and a woody taste. We stayed here, as a couple, in September for a two night stay, on the first night after travelling we had, included in our payment, a three course meal in the Cedar Tree Restaurant. My husband ordered a starter and we both ordered a main....We waited and waited while other diners around us had their starters, mains and deserts, still no food arrived and after an hour of waiting we decided to leave! When we were asked if everything was ok by the Receptionist on our way back to the room we explained the situation and rather than trying to remedy the situation she offered us a bottle of wine! despite the fact we hadnt eaten. My husband and I had a birthday treat voucher to have a meal here. It's a set menu with about 6 choices for each course. I didn't quite fancy any of the dishes on the main courses so I asked if I could have the...chicken with the lamb jus as I don't like mustard sauce. They were very accommodating. The food was very nice and the staff efficient and friendly. The restaurant was busy but they coped well. In the lounge area after where we had our coffee it felt a bit like a library where you are frightened to speak. Some atmospheric background music would be helpful. A nice evening tho.
We stayed at Dumbleton Hall Hotel with a Travelzoo package that included a 3-course dinner for one night. The selection of dishes was good and the food was well-prepared. While my fish was a bit dry, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her generously portioned meal. The lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. Since Dumbleton is located in a pretty remote area, dining at the hotel is a convenient option for guests.

The location was fantastic and the staff were excellent, but the food was disappointing. We tried multiple dishes, but none of them lived up to our expectations. We ate at the restaurant on our first evening, but opted to go to a nearby pub on the second night. If we were to stay again, we would choose to dine at a local pub like the Star Inn instead of booking at the hotel restaurant.
really good food, has 3 courses that were all beautiful. the booming and the plaice were the most important courses we had and both were enjoyed with a great selection of sweets. you also have to mention the personal that was very friendly. prices ok as...well
Booked for wife's birthday hotel was stunning. Service was incredibly slow and food cold and of poor quality, sirloin steak for an additional £7 on top off the £30 a head set meal came on a huge pile of chips!
We enjoyed afternoon tea and an excellent evening meal. Dumbleton Hall has interesting history and is set in fabulous grounds. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were all very professional and helpful.
