It is our first time here. We were looking for some place near us to have dinner together for our anniversary. I have lots to say about this place! Appetizer They are both great! We ordered Escargot and Salmon Trio for our appetizer and they both are so good! For me, personally, the escargot is a little too salty but when it paired with the bread, it was really good! And the bus boy recommended us to pair them and they taste so good together! Thank to him : For Salmon Trio, my husband and I agreed on that it tastes okay but not so incredibly good. Entree Halibut was soooooo good! It is the only one dish I would come back for. Fillet Mignon is somewhat salty but I don’t eat beef, so I can’t r...

This past experience eating at Chapeau was extremely disappointing. My partner and I have been dining here for over two years but it’s hard to justify our experience. To start, our reservation was for 8pm on a Friday. There were no tables available so the host also the owner) has us sit at the bar to wait which is a common situation here. 35 minutes go by, and we still haven’t been seated. We quickly realize that other parties with later reservations were being seated before us -they forgot about us. After realizing their mistake, we get seated promptly. I ask if we can order immediately and they obliged. We wait for another 20 minutes for our first course and this pattern repeats after ever...
The bread was fresh and with a good crunch. Escargot was hot with lots of garlic and basil great for bread dipping. The salmon trio looked cute but nothing special. The pork tenderloin was moist and tender. The charred cauliflower was tasty but the risotto was soft but the flavor was just ok. The French toast with caramel ice cream parred well and the chocolate lava cake with vanilla oozed out. Excellent service. The cook greeted us and the workers filled out hot water cups and wine. $35 for wine corkage fee.
This French restaurant is a true culinary haven. The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was a gastronomic delight from escargot to crème brûlée, each dish was a masterpiece. The ambiance exuded a charming, old world French charm, and the wine selection was outstanding. I left with a full belly and a happy heart. Book a table now
The dining experience was wonderful. Staff is attentive but not always at your table, a nice balance. Tried Escargot for the first time and it was tasty. It's almost like oysters but without the taste of falling in to an ocean wave and getting water up your nose. Filet Migon was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The Warm Apple with Hazlenut Ice Cream was also fantastic.
A family atmosphere with exquisite customer service. The food was extraordinary. The first restaurant I have been to with alcohol-free cocktails. French food and the host Phillipe, oh la la. The man knows how to make patrons feel like family. If you are in San Francisco, you need to visit Chapeau! We give them an A. Phillipe coup De Chapeau!
Best French restaurant in San Francisco! The owner is amazing, really attentive to his clients. I am from France and I am so happy that I found this place. The food is exactly like in France if not better ! Thank you so much for this amazing dinner ! We will be back :
The exorbitant price of the meal was not justified by its quality. I had anticipated a culinary experience comparable to the finest I had encountered in Paris, but instead, the meal was far inferior and would have been more appropriately priced at half the cost. Book a table now
Beautiful and quaint. Great cocktails, delicious food and healthy portions. Staff was incredibly friendly and the Chef/Owner made it a point to come by and chat with us and made us feel at home. Will definitely recommend and return.
