Used to visit for Sunday lunch from SE London, once brought along a restaurant critic as it was once exceptional. That is in the past One night we chose the 3xc menu – it was appalling – tasteless chicken and fish, rancid tasting oil in bread, reheated boiled potatoes and cauliflower. Bland, defrosting, badly presented deserts. Second night a la Carte for my 70th celebration dinner we walked out: the actual beef was a superb cut and superbly cooked however, the red wine jus was over salted and inedible, the vegetables again overcooked or reheated and charged at E27; the lamb, although flavoursome was streaked with gristle – again at E30 – overpriced and a very expensive mistake, ruining my b...
As a uk expat living in near Saint omer for many years this was the first time I hav eaten at this restaurant.The restaurant is situated in the grounds of the castle and is spacious with tables being placed wide apart in these covid times.At midday the restaurant offers a set menu of 25 euros for a two couse meal with a drink.The main meal is grilled over a open fire ,choice of meats and fish.The food was very nice with a choice of vegitables ,chips or mash potato (several variations).The service is quick and friendly.All in all a very nice experience and we will return to eat here in the future especially with the very reasonable price of the meal
chateau Tilques has always been a favourite stop off, on the way back to the shuttle, but I had not been for quite a while. The Vert Mesnil restaurant did not disappoint. We arrived for Lunch and tried the fixed price Grille Menu which was excellent value for money 27Euros p.p. The food was fresh, tasted delicious and was very well presented. We were also able to eat in the garden which was amazing. My friends who had not been before, were very impressed and we all intend to revisit.
I’m afraid I have to agree with previous reviewers. This is mediocre food at best. Overpriced for what was presented to me. On the plus side the setting is pleasant (as is the chateau which is beautiful) with very comfortable chairs. This restaurant is clearly out of synch with the standard you would expect from such a beautiful place.
