If you want to fulfill your cliché about arrogant and bad attitude of some French waiters, don't hesitate, this is the right location. We order a fish (sole). After 10 mn we were told that was not available. Ok, so we order another fish (saint pierre). After 8 mn we were told that one was sold out too. Fortunately, the third one was on duty. Maybe because it was only 5:45pm. So, beware, it could be smart to make a reservation not only for a table but for the meal you expect to have too. Of course no apology or any information about what we cannot order when we enter the restaurant. Take it or leave, the staffs really don't care. We are just finishing two wonderful weeks in the St. Malo region of France. Finished today with a hike into Canales for some fresh mussels for lunch. We attempted to eat at this restaurant but the man at the door was incredibly rude. He was insisting on people waiting although there were many obviously open tables. He was more worried about the placement of his stands blocking the entrance to 'control the crowds'. After the third rude comment to us (an implication that we didn't understand as we were English, actually Canadian) we chose to go elsewhere. Two doors down at Au Rocher de Cancale we were treated graciously and had some wonderful food.
The restaurant has a good view of the oyster beds and the port. It was a sunny day so sitting outside was a must. Louis XIV had his oysters from hear and so did I. They certainbly lived up to their reputation. The seafood main courses were also very good and my wife enjoyed a crepe for dessert. The meal and service were excellent and we left fully satisfied. Many restaurants line the port but would highly recommend this one.
Very recommended.We ordered the sea food platter. Amazing variety with a delicious taste and very rich! We also ordered the mussels even though the friendly waitress said it's not their season (July-November) and they it won't be the best, it was amazing, I wonder how good will it get in the season! All the desserts are recommended, ask the staff for recommendations.Not to be missed for a great experience

Walked along the quayside and chose Chez Victor because it was the only restaurant with a queue outside. Well worth the 10 minute or so wait. The food and ambience were terrific, the staff were very helpful and the service was good without feeling rushed. Perfect place to fulfill a long held wish to try a fruits de mer
Having dined in a number of restaurants along the quai we tried Chez Victor. From the greeting at the door (the place was packed and they found us a table) to the serving of the coffee everything was superb, the entire package was excellent.We can't wait for our next visit to Cancale to return to Chez Victor.
Well located with sea view. Delicious fresh oysters and bulots (and caramel au beurre sale crepe).! Very good and friendly service. We were sitting at the terrasse and they switched on the heater for our toddler (no high chair but it was okay). We went during lunch time.
We tried to get a table and there were obviously many there that did not have a reserved sign in but the manager barked they were full. Glad they were as we went a couple of doors down to Au rocher du cancale and had a better evening.

Excellent restaurant overlooking the oyster beds. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food is French so don't expect meat and 2 veg. Sea food is a speciality, get stuck in.!
