Don't eat the same. China Star changed management a few months back and food is not the same. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and got nothing but a huge dish of chicken and some sauce. No pineapple or paprika. The dish of chicken was enough for 2 or 3 people, but that was all. The sweet and acidic sauce was runny and not thicker than before. I'm not impressed by the new management. It used to be my favorite restaurant. The crabs are also different. I don't like the new changes in the menu.
I called and placed my first order at this restaurant, feeling a bit nervous due to the mixed reviews, but the photos looked fantastic. I tried the bourbon chicken with fried rice and an order of crab Rangoon. The chicken was delicious, and the fried rice was spot on. The crab Rangoon was also good, made with wonderfully sweet cream cheese. I wanted to share my experience because the food was great, especially since I usually go to the other restaurant near the Speedway.
My wife ordered lunch yesterday, but one of the items she wanted wasn't on the lunch menu. Instead, we were charged dinner prices for everything, including the soup and three meals. The total came to $49, and they refused to offer any sort of price reduction or credit, insisting that that's what she ordered. We will never return. We've been customers since they first opened about 20 years ago, but after this experience, that's it for us!
Plenty of seating, fast service, great food, big portions, quiet music, big parking lot. The furnishings are modest, humble, and clean. It appears to be a family business, husband, wife, and children who are pleasant, polite, and courteous. The Kung Pao double delight is my favorite, wife loves the Beef Lo Mein, however, I have sampled much of the menu, and it's all good. Book a table now
Great food! I had the Empress Chicken tonight, and the portion was huge. The Crab Rangoon was delicious, and I really enjoyed the egg drop soup as well. I didn't realize you could place an order through their website before calling [here link]. The food is consistently good. Definitely worth trying again!
Very nice staff, we take out from here occasionally. Good food, always hot and fresh... some of THE BEST egg rolls! They have beef, pork, chicken (maybe shrimp? Eggrolls. I always get the chicken... they also have veggie eggrolls.
Very fresh food served hot and with expedience. Family-friendly staff and incredibly polite. Be sure and take a stroll down the hallway and see the massive Chinese wall reliefs that are astounding works of art.
Fab. If I want Chinese in Englewood, that's the place I've been walking for years. Quality is top notch, staff are friendly, prices are appropriate for portion size. Love it. Book a table now
We chose this based primarily on its proximity to the hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised. It appears to be family run and they were friendly. The food was very good!
