"since the lakeside development have opened many restaurants to win the trade of new development. cinnabar is located in one of the most popular opposites in this area, not far from beer and barley and sammy. because both Alexis and lindsay were busy, harper accompanied me, which meant that we could not try as many dishes as normal, but we decided to make an effort."

Unfortunate to say, but I was let down by my experience here. Walking into the restaurant, I was blown away by the modern and innovative decor. However, once we were shown to our tables, my disappointment with my evening began. The menu riddled with grammatical and spelling errors, was furthermore unclear and vague about the restaurant's dishes. For instance, the menu offered a whole fish for $78 with no indication as to what fish it was or whether it was the special of the day. Similarly, another menu item simply listed as asparagus with ice' (priced at $24) provided no explanation as to what the dish itself actually entailed The menu's lack of clarity was not supplemented by the...read mor...

the cinnabar can probably be counted officially as the beginning of our many food adventures. we asked ourselves last winter at kingston foreshore, a cool evening, we were hungry and I had my dslr with me from any reason. the cinnabar is located 156/45 in eastlake parade, kingston, and focuses on “Asienfusion and modern Chinese cuisine”. is tangible the grasp that is used to describe the bright red of certain species of mercury sulphide – and all that is good in China must of course be a great, brave red! red for happiness. red for enough. red for strength, mut, victorious, they call it. red for life.

I got a sneak peek at Cinnabar last night and learnt that it focuses on bringing a new modern spin to Chinese cuisine. Owner Sonny Zhang is committed to bringing the latest dishes and flavours straight from China while keeping to Western tastes. The chefs at Cinnabar have worked in 5 star hotels all around China before moving to Australia to learn more about Asian-Western flavours. So what does Cinnabar mean? It’s actually a scarlet sulfide mineral used to make the bright scarlet Chinese seal imprints back in the day, and Cinnabar’s logo is of similar style and colour.

I am asian. For me, the food is very authentic yet with a cheeky modern tweak. The decor and atmosphere are luxurious which makes it a perfect place for a special occasion or if you are entertaining interstate or overseas guests. The staff are extremely friendly which is kind of unusual for asian restaurant (forgive my bluntness. Surprisingly, great services, superb food and pleasant diving environment come at a very affordable price. I can not recommend it highly enough!!
