We came for an early dinner, so the hostess was amused that I made reservations. Regardless, I hate long waits, so I always think it safer to make a reservation. I've been to CK once before, but that was for brunch. I was impressed with the food, so thought it was time to try dinner. The food was impressive and beautifully displayed. We started out with salads. The Caesar salad was average. I only order it because it had anchovies, but it wasn't anything special. I wish I had what my daughter ordered: the beet and farro salad. I have been here 4 times and each and every time the service has been terribly slow. When I am with my kids, I prefer to go to places that can get things going rather quickly. This past time, it was a leisurely dinner so we didn't have to rush. However, we were there for 2.5 hours and that is mostly because there was 1 server and it was his first day. One server called in sick and the chef was making drinks, cooking food and helping the brand new server. I realize that this could be a one off but my friend who I was with said the last time she was there, it was the same exact situation. I 've tried CK Restaurant 3 times now. The first time was when they opened, so I expected there to be learning opportunities . The second time was much better as the food tasted up to par, they had their license to service wine and they had adequate help. In regards to my most recent visit, it was horrible. They only had 1 waiter and he seemed overwhelmed. The only thing he was good at was sitting at the bar playing on his phone. The food at CK Restaurant is delicious! We have visited 3 times and it is one of the better restaurants in Alameda. However, the service was lacking. We were disappointed that there was no cesar salad available, even though it was only 6:00 p.m. Our entree was brought out with the comment that our appetizer "was coming," but we decided to cancel it. The waiter explained that he had only been there for 4 days. The pot roast could have used some juice or light gravy, but it was still delicious and a generous portion. Restaurant was half empty on a Sunday brunch, however there was only three people working in entire restaurant. Two servers and one chef. Service was painfully slow. It took a while to get seated even though we had a reservation, because the servers were buzzing tables which was ok. But it took the servers 20 minutes after we sat to great us while they noticeably kept away from eye contact. The bar was half full of used dishes and dirty glasses. Then they tell us all drinks are made with wine juice, there is no liquor. We left.
Sunday brunch; Food was great but the regular coffee not great and the hot chocolate was overflowing and making a mess, service not so great, waiter seemed overwhelmed even though the place was barely half-full. Music was great (80’s), but way too loud for anyone’s taste for brunch music, got turned down later, luckily. Overall ok, but not great.
Had to wait far too long for a cup of tea. It arrived once all the food was cooked. Food tasted very good and was nutritious as well. Staff were all very nice The slow tea was a big deal to me; the wait was just too long.
The staff did not check our reservation to acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday. I have detailed my experience on Yelp. Overall, it was disappointing, and we do not plan on going back.

We’re new to Alameda and enjoyed our meals very much. My son had the tomato soup and loved it, which is quite a bit since he can be pretty opinionated. Thank you.
They never looked at the reservation to see that we were celebrating a birthday. Yelp has my experience written out. Overall it was poor, and we will not return
