Despite the humdrum name that touches on every Indian restaurant cliche Clay Oven Tandoor Indian Grill serves exquisite food of great complexity that compares favorably with the creations I've enjoyed at some of India's finest restaurants! Do yourself a favor: set aside an evening with friends (or simply with a loved one) to experience culinary greatness, preferably on a less crowded weeknight. We had chicken tandoori, lamb vindaloo, nan bread, samosas, a bottle of Indian wine, and one other vegetarian dish (forgot the name). Everything was excellent from beginning to end. If you're looking for authentic Indian this is a great place to go to.
We've tried a variety of appetizers, breads and entrees the many times we have eaten at ClayOven Tandoor and all have been wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful without hovering over the table.
What a hidden gem! Great food and a nice family that runs it. Certainly worth making the drive from Lake Forest.
