during a stay at the hotel as a couple to dinner. it was initially disappointed that despite the reservation in advance the restaurant did not let it know that the road would be closed for Christmas lights if we wanted to arrive. finding the restaurant in the building was not difficult, but there was no sign. follow a further quick disappointment that a third of the main meals were not available that in the evening no vegetarian option and only a red meat option. in the course of our meal only two other covers were served. we had set ourselves about 5 minutes before the staff spoke to the surrounding music. this led to a real lack of atmosphere. I had braided with a pickled brombeer venison....

Having been on a wonderful tour of this gracious refurnished building in the centre of Colchester, we took up Greyfriars’ offer to make dinner reservations at its Cloisters restaurant. The reception and restaurant staff were superb, friendly, and efficient as was our welcome on arrival....The setting is also ambient and comfortable and on the Monday night we dined it was far from crowded. Our deal provided for a complimentary glass of some pretty good wine Sauvignon Blanc and Dona Paula Malbec and choices from the 3-course fixed menu. The starters we had were pretty good: cauliflower and truffles soup for my wife and a very good braised pork cheek bob bon with compote and purée for me. So fa...

I recently organized a lunch at the Cloisters restaurant for a small group of friends and family. None of us had been there before, except when the building was used as a school or adult education establishment. The restaurant has clearly undergone a significant conversion, with a lot of money invested in the building. Since we had more than 6 people in our group, we had to choose from their group menu, which was very similar to the regular a la carte menu. The menu had a good variety, with locally sourced items, and they were able to accommodate a member of our group with gluten intolerance. We all agreed that the food was delicious and well presented, with portions that were just right fo...

we have recently sung at cloisters as part of the romance package at greyfriars was not sure what to expect, but we were blown away the environment was very relaxed and cozy, which made an ideal environment for a romantic meal. the service was exceptional with all the...staff very friendly and on tent we dined from the set menu and both chose pan-fried pigeons, fish chips and sticky toffee pudding. all the dishes were very nice and the portions were then essential. I found the prices to be reasonable if I would pay total I would recommend cloisters if they go for a special culinary experience Book a table now

my wife and I enjoyed Sunday dinner in cloisters, with a gift certificate that was a gift from another member of our family. it was our first visit, and we were looking good and polite. the service was attentive without being intrusive. the demand...for one of us to be gluten-free" had been logged in and remembered in every phase of our three-course meal. the food was perfectly prepared. the atmosphere was relaxed. the wine list was comprehensive.

Part of the Greyfriars Hotel and available for non residents and residents . An extensive Table d’hôte À la carte menu is available seven days a week. We had a wedding reception meal for about 60 guests which was excellent. Service was exceptionally well...cooked and service was friendly and efficient.
