I just had a wonderful meal at the Colonial Diner in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, especially the appetizer sampler and the plate of chicken souvlaki. The appetizer sampler was a delicious trip through traditional classics, such as creatively delicious cheesesteak eggrolls, golden mozzarella sticks bursting with cheese, crispy chicken fingers, and crisply fried onion rings that had the perfect crunch. The service provided by the waitress was outstanding; she was very knowledgeable and attentive. However, the food left much to be desired. It was cold and lacked flavor. The turkey was quite bland, the mashed potatoes could have used some pepper, and the gravy was overly dark. On a positive note, my friend mentioned that the lemon cake was delicious.
