If I find myself in the area again, I hope I can remember this place. My memory isn't as sharp as it used to be, but considering that the Deerhead has been around since 1983 and was busy on a chilly Wednesday night, I suspect it will still be here on my next visit, whenever that may be. My server, Jeff, mentioned that the establishment existed long before it became the Deerhead.
As for the live music, I didn't stay long after acoustic musician John Hurst started performing, as I had to get back to work. However, he played the guitar beautifully and had a lovely singing voice, reminiscent of a coffeehouse vibe. I would definitely come back to see him again, and I'll certainly return to this...
We have been twice now and have loved it each time! We were just there 3/6/17 around 6:00 and our waitress was great! She was very personable and quick! We have only sat on the restaurant side and can't wait to come back and try the bar side, just hope your bartender has a smile on his face! We have recommended to all our friends from Southern Illinois to drive over, it's worth it!
