I called this afternoon to see if they had empanadas. The gentleman that answered the phone told me yes, we have empanadas in three flavors, three for $7.49, because I'm from Miami, and know what good Cuban food tastes like, and unfortunately there's not a lot of good Cuban food in the Mount Dora area, I was excited about the possibility of this place maybe being an exception in having good authentic Cuban food. When I got there they were not very friendly, and when I asked the gentleman at the counter for three different flavors of empanadas available, he stated that they would only sell one flavor of empanada for the $7.00, something not posted anywhere in the place, nor stated to me when...
Stopped by for a bite while in Mount Dora for the arts festival. We had a 30-40 minute wait for our food since it was super busy. You order your food at the counter and then seat yourself. We ordered a Cuban sandwich and the Caldo gallego to share. We went to wander around for about 30 mins and came back for our food. Being they were busy, it was a little chaotic. The Cuban sandwich was good. Perfect portion for the 2 of us. We had a bowl of the soup which was white beans and ham. That was tasty and I loved it. Great place for a quick bite if you're in Mount Dora.
The Cuban sandwich was quite good, and the plantain chips that accompanied it were enjoyable as well. However, we were disappointed with the steak sandwich. The chicken empanadas were tasty, but the beef ones were overly greasy and lacked flavor. Overall, considering the prices, I would return, but only for the Cuban sandwich.

This is honestly the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, and the Cuban sandwich? There's no comparison, even to those in Miami. You definitely shouldn’t miss this place. It feels like you’re in a food court near Jackson, which used to be my go-to spot for Cuban sandwiches.
I can't understand how this place has only a 4.4-star rating instead of a perfect 5. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is absolutely fantastic! It's definitely a hidden gem tucked away in an alley in downtown Mt. Dora.
