Terrible Experience! From uncomfortable chairs and cramped tables, faulty toilet (no proper hand washing in gents- tap taped up in plastic bag) to really poor food- tough chewy pizza and chopped iceberg lettuce with unfresh tomato (described as fresh tomato/cucumber etc on a bed of lettuce) we thought it couldn't get worse. Apparently because we raised the food issues with his son (who was immediately defensive and irritatingly condescending) the owner ran after us outside and shouted at me across my wife in a face to face angry confrontation. Quite unbelievable behaviour from a family run restaurant who clearly have no customer focus and cannot handle any reasonable feedback or questioning...
We live local, come here regular and always really enjoy it. The service is good with very friendly staff, Rio the owner’s son is very helpful and always makes us feel welcome and there is a great selection of traditional Italian dishes. Last night we both had the bruschetta starters, then FARFALLE AL SALMONE and TONNO AL FORNO and we would both recommend these dishes. We had a carafe of their selected Italian red table wine that went perfectly with the meal. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Inauthentic restaurant, not in any way Italian- there's no pride in the produce or service. Chewy rubbery pizza, awful salad- randomly chopped iceberg lettuce with unfresh tomatoes. Run down premises, old uncomfortable furniture and faulty toilets. It's hard to understand other higher ratings, it's just not realistic. Family run but boy are they defensive, becoming offensive, if you raise any issue. Stay away!

This charming restaurant offers a wonderful variety of dishes. The lunch menu is just right and offers great value for the price. The desserts, especially the homemade tiramisu, are simply divine.
Found Donatellos after we came to Ampthill looking for somewhere to eat. Honestly the best pizza either of us has ever had. The staff were also really lovely. Definitely going to return
