You've read the glowing reviews. A taste of Britain in the Dordogne. Well, the reality is quite different. We ordered two fish and chips meals and were told to return in 15 minutes. Good: freshly cooked F&Ps. Ten euros per person seemed reasonable if it was of quality. It was early Thursday evening but the lady was already surly and out of sorts. We took our precious cargo home, wanting nothing to detract from the treat to come. What we unwrapped was chips from local potatoes, unsuited to the purpose, being too sweet; and cod in batter which was so over-cooked the succulence had been driven out from the flesh, and the batter was nothing but crispness - no subtle blend of bits of crispness an...

I often take visitors, especially English ones for fish and chip night in Eymet here in sunny France. Last week I took my former neighbours. They were delighted as they only moved lock stock and barrel two weeks ago. They live two hours away and do not have a fish and chip wagon near them. I not only love the fish and chips and mushy peas which are ready and waiting for you at your appointed time after you order them either by phone or email. I always order them now as I was soooo disappointed once when there were no fish left once. My friends raved about them especially at the huge Chrissy battered fish. and were so delighted to have an authentic taste of home. All the condiments are on a t...

We sat, a family of 7, sipping chilled rose outside the cafe opposite. Our ordered meals were delivered promptly to our table and really hit the spot. Kids' portions generous; fish nicely cooked - moist inside with batter crisp but not overdone. Mushy peas, salt and vinegar and a touch of curry sauce made this the perfect taste of home in the shadow of Eymet's church and chateau. We'll be back next week all being well

Eating Fish & Chips in Eymet on a sunny Thursday evening has become one of our holiday traditions. . . . probably visited 6-8 times over the last couple of years. Couldn't fault any occasion. Love the crispy batter and chips, washed down with a cold fresh beer from the bar.I know Fish & Chips isn't by any means French but it's one of our staples when over and always makes our trip. Thanks & see you next time!
