First the good The hotel is awesome, rooms comfortable and plenty of space. Feels like you’re stepping back in time with the wood finished and antique look. The front desk check in was friendly and receptive. Now the not so good First, be known, there is a train that runs through town 1 block from the hotel. Cane through at 10pm, 2am, and 6am (give it take a few minutes), so if you’re expecting a sound sleep through the night, that’s a challenge. Second, the saloon/restaurant. Beautiful setup to sit and look at. Bar only has one brand of local liquor if you’re looking for a cocktail (New Mexico brand I believe is what they said). Menu is limited, and a little over priced. We had the elk roll...

Hotel Eklund is an absolute gem! The building is so beautiful with a very interesting history. The staff was wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The area felt super safe. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone, one of my all time favorite stays! Rooms: The room was adorable, it was also very spacious. We were given plenty of towels. Our room had three windows with two overlooking Main Street. Nearby activities: The historic Luna Theater is right across the street from the Eklund. The have showings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Highly recommend going to a showing! Safety: The area felt very safe, the hotel staff was wonderful and the other patrons were all great. A great find on our way from Ft Worth to Colorado! Very nice historical lobby and dining room from late 1800s. Furniture pictures of the Era all tell a story of family and life back in the day. We stayed in a queen room that was rustic but met our needs for the night. Only thing is it is close to hwy 87 can be somewhat noisy from traffic. Overall a nice stay. Food drinks: Ate at Hwy 87 restaurant for dinner in town. Very good along with service. The continental breakfast at hotel was very good also. WOW, greeted by the charming Ms. Jo Beth who shared the history of the hotel and town, the room clean and bright western motif. Dinner was delightful, hostess Ms. Jeanette was very attentive along with the server Ms. Anne and the bartender Mr. Keith had a local distilled Rye whiskey to serve. A most wonderful experience on our bucket list. Thank all of you for making it special. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Romantic
