The restaurant has a welcoming and warm setting. Located in the heart of Old San Juan, it’s steps away from grub night life. El Asador was somewhat following Covid safety protocols. They did take our temperature and offered hand sanitizer upon entering the restaurant, but one of our waiters did not cover their nose with the mask. The restaurant seems to be operating with limited staff, which made the wait time for food and service quite long. The food itself was ok. One person at my table got dorado, and it’s texture was rubbery. My mofongo did not seem like it was fresh. Overall, good place to eat
The atmosphere at the restaurant was perfect, with a cute Tuscan feel. There was no background music playing, but it didn't detract from the experience. Unfortunately, the service was lacking, as there were only two servers for the entire restaurant, resulting in delays getting our drink and food orders in. The food was good in both appearance and taste, but not particularly memorable. We could have found similar dishes elsewhere. However, the cozy environment made up for it. It's a great spot for a date night with no high expectations.
They’ll they had over the limit on people even though we had a reservation and we had to wait minutes until they would take our order they were just too busy. The food was amazing and the gentleman that was helping us was also great he was just way overwhelmed

Very nice place, but unfortunately there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. The food was decent at best but overpriced. I had the dorado mahimahi with the mushroom risotto. They were good but the side salad was clearly poured out of a bag
If you want a good mofongo, typical of our cuisine, and pair it with the best seafood, or enjoy a delicious barbecue of meat cuts, the grill is the place to visit.
The food was great and the ambiance was really nice. They didn’t offer a lot of wines by the glass but otherwise it was great
We had a wonderful Valentine's dinner in Old Town at El Asador. The food and drinks were amazing.
