It's been a while since I visited Family Affair Restaurant in Freeport, Illinois. Whenever I'm back home, I make it a point to check out a local spot. The food is incredible, and my favorite dish has always been their skillful preparations. This time I went with the chorizo, which added the perfect seasoning! For just under $20, I got two eggs with a choice of pancakes, crepes, or toast, along with two cups of coffee. The Kurb-Reiz still has a hint of the old Long John Silver's atmosphere, but that's where the comparison ends.
What a wonderful restaraunt!! The service was fabulous, the food was delicious!!!! We were quickly and kindly greeted!! All social distancing was in place. I'm so glad this small business is making things work smoothly, during these difficult times. We'll definitely be back!! Prices were phenomenal, too!! Still glad this restaurant is here!! It's for sale!! I do hope a local family buts it, keeps the menu and continues this business!!!!
The food was enjoyable, and the service was satisfactory. However, the table where I was seated was quite sticky from pancake syrup. To top it off, there was an additional fee for dining in, which felt like a bit of a scam. I would recommend considering other options; maybe they'll understand the feedback eventually!
The staff was incredibly friendly and polite. Despite being very busy, our food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were quite reasonable. This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had at a restaurant. We will definitely return!

We discovered a fantastic breakfast spot on our journey from Galena to Chicago. I had the Fremont skillet, and it was delicious! The toast comes pre-buttered, which I absolutely love. The service was quick and friendly, and everyone was really nice.
Delicious food prepared to perfection, paired with excellent service. The prices are reasonable, and you'll definitely leave satisfied and with your cup always full!
Wow, it's been years since we last ate there. The chicken fried steak and eggs were absolutely fantastic. Truly unforgettable!
I love this place. Hidden gem. Food favorites are the chicken noodle soup, bacon cheeseburgers, and their French toast.
