"Here by chance on the way to Altenahr and saw that you can buy and drink homemade wine in this winery. So we drank a glass of wine on the terrace. The wine was very nice and the prices of the bottle fair, so we bought some wine here."

Let's clear up the name first - it's either Försters Weinterrassen or Weingut Försterhof. I think the owners need to be a little clearer about which they would like to be called!!This place is really worth finding but it's a challenge, and our Tomtom Satnav didn't find it either. You have to find the Roman Villa in Ahrweiler and go up a rough track that goes up a steep hill. You will see signs for the Hohenzollern Hotel/Restaurant (turn left and go past there) and you keep going past 2 other places and all the way to the end of the road where you find this, the Forester's Wine Terrace (in English). It really is at the end of the road in the middle of nowhere. Visually the place looks simply...

Very good food, all typical German dishes.Great location - surrounded by vineyards. You can either hike to get there or you can go by car. Going by car is quite challanging as the roads are narrow and you have people walking on them. It is however not such a big deal, you will slowly get there :)It's nice to combine it on one day with a visit to a nearby Dokumentationsstaette Regierungsbunker.

The whole place looks like a mushroom house. The hobbits meet Alice in Wonderland. Pretty quirky. Food is very good, and rather massive. Service is friendly and warm - success did not harm the service quality at all. Would definitely come back - perhaps with more appetite than last time. The cake... is brilliant - just not after a massive Schnitzel.

A good friend brought me here my first time. The terrace is such a beautiful spot to sit and chat with drinks and cake. You hike through the Ahrweiler vineyards to find this place surrounded by lovely views. It's the perfect place to enjoy a sunny afternoon. There is also a small gift shop with a nice variety of local wines to choose from.
