I was excited about this cafe but I almost felt it was a fake. Nice table but it was dirty due to nature if the tiles. The lollies for sale looked like an afterthought. Service was ok and considering price I would rather spend my $18 on a decent hamburger. The Vegie Burger was so soggy it oozed when you bit into it. It was cold on an oversized McDonalds type soft bun. They really need to work it out. Food needs texture. I skipped the coffee due to this! .

I love this place. It has a great atmosphere and first class food and coffee. I agree with some other reviews that it can get chaotic at busy times, e.g. mid morning Sunday, and the staff have trouble keeping up with the orders, and even sometimes loose an order. Hence my 4 star and not 5 star rating. I note they have a pop up shop next door now for these difficult times on the weekend. I hope they have put on more table staff to deal with the rush.
For a family friendly cafe, the service was horrendous. I visited this place in June 2016 and had one of the staff be incredibly rude cause my pram was in her way. Again, when I visited in September, a different staff member was rude and when I asked him for a high chair, he pointed out rudely that I can grab one for myself if I wanted to. I was holding a baby and he could have helped me if he wanted to. Never going back to this cafe again!
For the past three years this has been my local cafe. Whether it's during the week or on the weekend the coffee is consistently good and the food delicious. Staff turn over is low, service is always prompt and friendly even on weekend mornings when they are super busy,There is a kids menu which has food kids want to eat, a toy box under the stairs and once you are done eating grab a take away coffee and head across the road to the park. This is my favourite cafe a lot of the locals practically live there, like me . It's small so people with prams should leave them outside. The food is delicious the coffee superb and the diversity in food and staff embraces a truly cultural experience back fully open in four weeks after a renovation. They are definitely kid friendly the local owner Shannon and his wife Lena have four of them.
I didn't know a cafe could be so chaotic! I went there for a nice relaxing coffee and brunch and left feeling anxious from the bedlam that was happening around me. People complaining about the long delays with food orders, incorrect coffees been taken to tables, cold food, lack of care and a lot of swearing from the staff. Would not recommend this cafe!
It just so happened that this was the closest Cafe; & what a stroke of luck it was! It is without a doubt one of the best Modern Australian Cafes in all Melbourne. The food + coffee are incredible but there is also a genuine warmth about the place that cannot be faked.Make the trip, it's worth it. ❤
Came here on a cold day, 5 adults and 3 kids. Lovely waitress moved the tables we could sit together (inside was full, so we were outside, better than nothing). Food and drink came quickly and were very good, relaxed family atmosphere. Book a table now
Love love love Fordhams Milk Bar. The food is always amazing, friendly staff, cute setting, the pastries are amazing, recommend the escargot and the breaky roll, the hot chocolate is great too. We visit weekly :)
